A new undercover unit is created by the FBI to infiltrate the inner circles of illegal art dealing.
Dylan Wang is a convicted and talented forger that will be forced to pretend to have a relationship with the agent assigned as his keeper, the sweet...
Yue wakes up a little anxious. The day has arrived. At that party, she will have to find the way to sneak into The Russian's house and see if she can locate the stolen paintings or any other piece of information that might provide leads for the investigation.
Dylan notices how nervous she is and advises to get breakfast in the room to avoid prying eyes. Afterwards, he tries to reassure her.
"Even if you get caught, act drunk and mention my name. No one at the party wants to deal with my father," he guarantees.
"Your father doesn't even know me! Why would he defend me?"
"You don't get it, do you?"
No, Yue doesn't understand why Dylan's father would care about her. She did complete the FBI training, but she is still learning about the criminal world and how it works.
Dylan continues: "It's all a matter of pride and display of power. If my dad doesn't seek revenge for anything that might happen to his sons or their women, people will think he is weak. And my father is not weak at all. He will get rid of anyone who messes with his family. That is the only way to get respect in this circle," he finishes and lowers his eyes with dejection.
Yue, who has been pacing around the room agitatedly, stops at his words and tone and glances at Dylan. As an empath and a good people-reader, she feels what he is feeling, that fear, that anguish which reigns in the environment he grew up in. That is the reason behind his hypochondriac behavior, that is why during the first month of the operation he was always telling Caesar he would get exterminated.
Thankfully, Dylan is now calmer, more at peace. He has never felt this way before, even though his mother had done her best to protect him all his life.
Yue sits beside him on the bed and takes his hand that is resting on his leg. "I'm sorry you had to grow up like that. It must have been hard."
Dylan interlaces her hand and squeezes it, then he brings it to his mouth and kisses it. Once more, Yue feels the electricity traveling from his mouth through her veins down to her body. She cannot help it.
"You didn't exactly have a breezy life with your demanding parents..." he says and caresses her cheek with his other hand, gazing intently into her eyes.
"At least I knew they didn't really mean it when they said they wanted to kill me..." she teases to lighten up the atmosphere, and both chuckle.
They remain there for a minute or two, lost in each other's eyes, Dylan making circles on Yue's cheek with his thumb and his other hand holding hers tightly. How were they so lucky to find one another?
The moment is interrupted by a phone ringing. Caesar is calling Yue to give her some pointers about The Russian's house and explain to them that Darren has shared blueprints and satellite images that Yue can see on the laptop they brought along.
Her first infiltration. This is what she trained for, and she is ready, she hopes.
