22. I Love You

Later that day at the office

Caesar eyes Yue as soon as he enters the room, and he cannot wait to tease her about Key West and Dylan. He has no idea what went on with Peng because no one has told him yet.

"So, Yue..." he says, dragging the 'aeh' sound. "How was the beach? Was it fun? Any special events?" he grins.

Yue frowns and then glares at Dylan, who immediately waves his hands in the air claiming innocence.

There is no way to keep Caesar in check. He will torment them with witty remarks forever, especially when he finds out that this weekend Yue and Dylan are supposed to have dinner at the Wang Residence.

Yue places her hands on the waist with a sassy attitude. "Key West was great! Perfect, really! Didn't we get you many interesting leads? What else do you want?"

"I want juicy details..." Caesar teases. "Because I know that you're even meeting the in-laws this weekend. Wow! The relationship is riding high!" he winks. "I'm glad. Just, try not to get shot. Everyone in that house is trigger happy, except for Mrs. Wang, an angel amongst demons," Caesar warns Yue and winks again.

Dylan grabs Caesar by the collar, which seems to be a thing between them, and drags him to the conference room.

He shuts the door and scowls at Caesar. "What are you doing, exactly? It's bad enough I have to take her there, why are you meddling and scaring her?!"

"Calm down, boy. She deserves a heads-up." Caesar shrugs.

"You know I won't let anything happen to her!"

"What I know is that you never took any girl home before. Why did you agree to bring Yue?" Caesar inquisitively wonders.

"I didn't agree. Joel came to my place before we went to Key West asking for a favor, the same day of the opening. Yue knocked on the door when he was still there, and he opened."

"So? He met your women before..." Caesar widens his eyes unconvinced.

Dylan sulks and looks at his feet. "I got all worked up. I never acted like that before, and he recognized the change in me..." he confesses.

"You..." Caesar hesitates and gapes at Dylan. "You're in love with Yue and Joel realized she's your weak spot!"

"Shhhhhh... Geez! Quiet!"

"What are you gonna do? You said you were gonna put a leash on your heart and look how that turned out!"

"I have no idea how it happened, man. I didn't plan for this. She... She got under my skin. We played around, flirted, and my heart gave in. I couldn't control it. Little by little, all I wanted was to be with her. I've never felt this way; you know I haven't."

Caesar places a hand on his chin and ponders. "You always broke up with women when they tried to get into your studio, that was the turning point. Has she been in it?"

Dylan paces around nervously and looks ashamed.

"You did! Oh, heaven! You showed her your studio! Has anyone else been in there but you and Yue?"

Dylan shakes his head and presses his lips in a straight line.

"Wow! Well, good luck, my friend. This is more complicated than that League of Justice movie..." And pats Dylan on the back.

Dylan chuckles. They watched that movie together and did not understand one bit. Still, he does not believe having a relationship with Yue will be that messy.

"Listen, man, things between me and Yue are still in an undefined state... Please, don't say anything. We don't want to make a big deal out of it," Dylan requests because Yue doesn't want Agent Michaels to find out she is sort of dating the criminal that was assigned under her care, plus the relationship is truly in a bizarre stage now that Dylan knows Yue just got divorced.
