That evening at the penthouse
"Cookie, come here."
After dinner, Dylan asks Yue to join him on the couch. For supper, Yue was craving sushi, so that's what they ordered and got delivered to the apartment.
They're wearing robes and they're still fresh and clean from the shower they took together after work, and now Yue sits on Dylan's lap. He wraps his arms around her waist and Yue rests her head on his shoulder.
The murky black cloud of Mr. Wang hangs above them.
"We need to talk about what might happen," Dylan gloomily introduces the subject, tenderly stroking Yue's body over the silky fabric.
"I don't like where this is going," Yue complains and throws her arms around his neck. "Can we not talk about it?"
Dylan sighs and smooches her face all over. "I know you don't want to, but I need you to be prepared."
"Stop! Please..." Yue can feel the tears welling in her eyes and she rubs her face on Dylan's shoulder to prevent the waterworks. "We'll get Michaels soon. Nothing will happen," she skeptically murmurs.
You say that I won't lose you
But you can't predict the future
So, just hold on like you will never let go
Yeah, if you ever move on without me
I need to make sure you know that"Cookie..." Dylan takes her arms and coaxes her to face him. "We can't be sure that we'll be faster than my father. You know that." He cradles her face in his hand and Yue leans on it, a lonely tear drifts across her cheek. "Don't cry, we need to be strong."
"Crying makes me stronger," Yue quips and both chuckle, which relaxes the atmosphere a smidgen.
Seeing his sweet cookie so rattled, Dylan does the only thing he can to soothe her – he gives her a kiss that takes her breath away, makes her brain short circuit, and sends shivers down her spine.
"I love you, cookie, more than anything in this world. But we have no idea what's gonna happen or when. I need you to know one thing though: I will fight with all my strength to be with you. It might take sweat, blood and tears, but I will fight till my last breath for you. I promise. Because you're the only one I'll ever love."
You are the only one I'll ever love
Yeah, you, if it's not you, it's not anyone
Looking back on my life
You're the only good I've ever doneYue's unruly tears ultimately flow, and Dylan pointlessly tries to wipe them away with the back of his hands. He won't even ask her again not to cry because his own tears begin to pour when the thought of not seeing Yue even for one day fleets by his mind.
They squeeze each other as tight as they can, not caring about the pain it causes them to be crushed so strongly.
"I won't let them take you away from me," Yue mutters, sunk on Dylan's neck, inundating his skin with tears.
You say that I won't lose you
But you can't predict the future
'Cause certain things are out of our control
Yeah, if you ever move on without me
I need to make sure you know that"Sweetie," he says with a quaver, "no matter what happens to me, I want you to know that this has been the happiest year of my life."
"Don't say goodbye! Stop saying goodbye!" Yue cries, shaking him, frustrated. Why is he giving up already? "We need to fix this!"
