Charlotte couldn't believe herself when she walked inside Wembley with a England jersey. She had refused to wear one for all the previous games she attended but this one she knew it was even more special. Mason could be an EuroCup champion.
Much to her dismay, this game wasn't just England on the pitch, she got lucky enough to have both England and Belgium competing for the title and she knew either way she was going to feel happy or sad.
Her relationship with football has always been closer to the Netherlands, who was eliminated a while back, maybe because her father always liked football much more than her mother, but Belgium was always in the back of the family mind, is either one of those two, it was never England. Until now.
- He'll die when he sees that you're actually wearing his jersey - Lauren said seating next to her and she laughed knowing she was right
- He better enjoy it, I feel like the fakest Belgian ever - She chuckled seeing the boys enter the pitch for the National Anthems, her singing the Belgium one with pride.
The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, it looked quite similar to the France x Switzerland, a game she remembered watching and almost having a heart attack and obviously it made her feel extremely bad for Kylian, who she knew would be blaming himself.
Except, England x Belgium was less goals, they were tied with a score of 1x1 when the whistle blew at the end of the first half and the second half wasn't looking pretty for England with them almost conceding goals with bad judgement and with a lot of loss opportunities to score themselves. Mason included.
The first goal was scored by Jadon Sancho, who Southgate had finally decided to start in a game, even Charlotte who didn't have a lot of knowledge about the footballer knew he should be in the starting eleven from day one, Belgium equalised twenty minutes later with Thorgan Hazard scoring. Now one of them needed another one so that the game would end in the actual 90 minutes and surprisingly she hoped it would be England.
- For God's sake, they have less than five minutes can someone put a ball inside the goal please? - She sighed annoyed to the blonde next to her who agreed without thinking twice, not only her boyfriend being in the pitch but being British herself.
Her prayers were answered when Ben Chilwell were able to steal the ball from Axel Witsel and pass it brilliantly to Declan Rice, who wasted no time shooting it to Mason who somehow was able to get it under control quickly and shoot the ball that passed through the legs of the goalkeeper, scoring what was the winner goal for England.
- HOLY SHIT MASON MOUNT - She screamed jumping around with Lauren, the duo celebrating the victory alongside the rest of the British fans who were all around Wembley. - Debbie you created a talent - She hugged her mother in law making the two of them laugh before she noticed her mother in law teary eyes
- Oh god, I did, didn't I? - She laughed wiping her eyes not letting go of her daughter in law while they watched the rest of the game, anxiously waiting for the final whistle to blow.
She felt like it was the Champions League all along, the celebrations all around, the ceremony, the trophy, the happiness. It had no price to see the smile that was glued to her boyfriends face, which was the cause of the one on herself.
England had just won the EuroCup. Mason had just won.
- I WON - He screamed arriving close to his family with Charlotte backing down not wanting to get in the way of their celebrations - My eyes are lying to me right now - He said letting go of his sister and seeing his girlfriend wearing his jersey, for the first time.
- Enjoy while it lasts - She pointed out making everyone laugh while he hugged her
- This makes the victory even better - He said on her ear while she smiled kissing his cheek before he rolled his eyes kissing her in the lips - That's what I deserve.
- What a fucking season - He said throwing himself on his bed at SGP, for the first time having his girlfriend with him in there.
- It was your year - She smiled running her fingers through his hair - Next season will be the PL.
- I hope so - He smiled softly with his eyes still closed - Thank you for wearing my jersey, it was the highlight of my night - He said looking into her eyes seeing her frown her eyebrows
- You freaking won the EuroCup, scored the goal that secured the win and you're telling me that seeing myself in a jersey it's the highlight of it? - She asked shocked before slapping his arm - Get yourself together Mount.
- You have no idea how important you're to me - He chuckled pulling her into a meaningful kiss
- I do, but your highlight needs to be your success tonight, I can wear the jersey any other day - She said - Just hopefully you don't play against Netherlands or Belgium for a long time, it was awful - She sighed and he laughed
- 2022 is right over there... before that we're playing Liverpool much for your dismay - He laughed knowing she was not looking forward to it
- I already accepted it, I'll be cheering for the Blues even if it's against Liverpool, all your fault Mount, all you. - She sighed feeling guilty and like a traitor, she wished her heart hadn't been turned a bit blue
- God how did I get so lucky? - He smiled at her who shrugged
- Would like to know how I got so unlucky as well - She joked with him pushing her away lightly
