Secrets

I sat in the hospital waiting room

my eyes were all puffy

"You have to let me in" I said

"Sorry ma'm" The nurse said "Family only".

"But we are family....well sorta" I said "He's the father of my daughter". I whispered

"Why are we whispering" He asked

"Because my daughter doesn't know that" I looked at Laya

"Well ma'm I'm not gonna tell you how to be a parent but I suggest the first thing you do is tell your daughter the truth". The nurse suggested

"I appreciate the thought but I can't tell her now. Not when there's a 50% chance he could die" I held back tears

(just so you know I decided to change Laya's age to 13)

"Mom, why is that guy so important to you" Laya buckled her seatbelt "He's just in old friend".

I took a deep breath "Yea but he wasn't just some friend.....he was my best friend".

"How did you two loose touch" Laya asked

"Umm...he ended up moving to California" I hesitated 

"But I was born when you were 18 so how old was I when he left" She stared at the window

"Almost four" I held back tears

"Did he ever meet me....before he left". she asked

"I wouldn't let him" I mumbled 

"What? Laya said "I couldn't hear you".

"He never got the chance to meet you" I said

Laya was in my office looking through old photos 

She came across her birth certificate

"Mom what is this" Laya asked

I turned to see the one thing that  tried to hide forever

"Thats.....your..umm..birth certificate" I took it out her her hands

"Can I see it" Laya asked

"You'll rip it" I made up an excuse

"Fine then" Laya rolled her eyes

"It's late...you better get to bed". I changed the subject

"It's only 8:30" Laya said "I don't go to bed until 10:00"

"Yea but you have forensics tomorrow and you'll be home late". I said "I'll let youwatch Netflix till 9:30".

After I dropped laya of at school I decided to go to the hospital to see how Lucas was doing

"How is he doing" I asked a nurse

"Suprisingly well" The nurse piped up "He taking the medication well and healing fastly". "He's gonna need some therapy afterwards though".

"Thats great" I smiled "Can I go see him"?

"Ummm he actually has another vister in there right now and she asked for privacy but we can send you in there right afterwards". The nurse assured me

"He has a visiter'? I asked "No....thats impossibe, i'm the only one here he knows".

"Oh she's not from here" The nurse said "She said she heard he was injured and came right away...I believe she's from New York".

Lucas and I went to school together in New York. I mean thats where we grew up. When Lucas left me I moved to Louisianna cause i didn't want anything to do with Lucas. Riley and Farkle moved here a year afterwards.

Lucas gave me the keys to his house the last time I seen him so I went over there to look around

I walked in and it was pretty emty considering he just moved

It was a pretty big house

I had 3 bedrooms 4 baths, a living room, kitchen, a refurnished basement, an office, and a pool out back

I walked into his living room and his computer was laying on the couch

I grabbed it and started to look through his stuff on there

I went to his photo library

There were a whole bunch of picture of him and I 

But there was one album that was named Willow (imagine Willow to look like Dove Cameron)

There were a whoe bunch of pictures of her and Lucas but there was one picture that caught my eye

They were all cuddled up on the front steps of a house and looked so happy

I studied the picture and noticed and ring of her finger

What is Lucas hiding from me?
