Chapter 7

Taylor's POV

It's been a week since I left. I have started training  even though I was working out a lot, it still is pretty hard. I had to move on the other side of the country, me and a bunch of new other people.

I met a guy here. His name is James. We hit it of pretty quickly and I am thankful for that. You need a friend in the army. And he seems like a good guy. He even  found out about my little friend down there but he said he doesn't care.

I am glad I met him. He also helped me with some other dudes that were making fun of me for being a woman. Apparently they believe that women are not supposed to be in the army.

They are just a bunch of assholes, who cares what they think?

I woke up early in the morning because our Lieutenant woke me up along with a handful of other soldiers.

"We have a mission for you. One of our teams got attacked in the middle of the night  and they are requesting for backup.  All of our units are out on an important mission  so you, as the people with the best results for now, along with Lieutenant Jaxson will go to assist. I know you don't have completed your training but you are needed. So all of you will follow orders. Now go eat, the plane will be here in half an hour." He said and dismissed us.

Half an hour? Pfhh. "Hey Dane!" I turned around and saw James calling me. "Are you ready for our first mission?" He said running towards me from were he was.

"Yeah. To be honest I am a little nervous but it is natural  right? I asked him.

"Yes dude, don't worry. I am nervous too but at least we are together. Now let's go eat." He said and started walking to get food.

"Hey, I will meet your there, I want to make a phone call first." I told him and went  towards the phone booth. I called my mama. I know it's late and she is probably asleep but I have to call her.

It rang a couple of times before she picked it up. "Hello?" She answered with a raspy voice.

"Hey mama it 's me. I am sorry to wake you up." I told her.

"Taylor? What happened? Are you ok?" She asked worriedly.

"Don't worry mama. I am fine. I- I am actually leaving for my first mission." Before she said anything I heard ma Silvia from the back asking if everything was ok.

"She says she is leaving for her first mission isn't it a little early?" She asked ma and then she talked to me again. "Isn't it a little early? Are you sure you are ready?"

"Mama, relax. I have to do this. I just called you to let you know. I will be fine. I have to go now. I love you" I told her.

"Ok, please be careful. I love you bye." She said and we ended the call.

That went better than I expected...

After that I went to eat something. Not twenty minutes later the chopper was here to take us away.

The flight was around 6 hours. We got out in a desert in one of our military bases.

We got our weapons from there and got informed about the mission.

Apparently there is a new gang leader that is taking guns and drugs from his country and is selling them on ours. There also a possibility that they are also participating in human trafficking.

Our people sent one team to collect informations but they lost communication with them two days ago. So now we have to find out if the other team is still alive and if they are we have to rescue them and collect as much information as we can in the process.

They separated us in four teams. Each team was six people. I was lucky to be on the same time with James and another guy from our unit along with two more guys and a girl from this base.

The girl was kinda cute and was looking at me, well more like she was checking me out... To bad I am really not in a place for a relationship. Maybe it could be hook  up to relax a little for a night or two though.

We were walking around the desert looking for clues, well more of, we were walking around the desert following the three people that were more experienced and familiar with the place. We were just following orders.

We were walking for hours under the hot sun in the middle of nowhere. Our outfits and equipment were becoming really heavy and difficult to carry with the temperature this high and our strength was decreasing. The sun was about to go down so we had to go back or find a shelter, but what shelter can someone find in the middle of the desert?

As we started going back we heard a gun shot. The one of the two guys from the new base that was walking before me dropped dead right in front of my feet. We all stopped moving and took our guns out.  As we look up from were the gun was fired we saw two people with their guns pointing at us. I looked left and right and there were people all around us. We were surrounded.

One of them told us to put our weapons down or they would kill us.

The person that was in charge of us told us to do what he said and put our guns down.

We did and half of the bad guys came towards us. The last thing I remember is a gun coming towards my face and then everything became black...

Summer's POV

After Taylor called, I couldn't sleep any longer. Everything is happening so fast. I am really scared that something bad is going to happen. I have a bad feeling.

The whole day I was pacing the house back and forth cleaning it. I cooked, I took care of the kids...

I also started working last week and thankfully today is my day of because I don't think I could work like this.

Silvia came back from work late because she had an unplanned surgery that came up. Well that is happening when you are dating a doctor.

The night came and I was still full of energy and worry about my daughter. I couldn't sleep that night either so around  three or four o'clock I got out of bed and decided to  bake cookies.

Why not?

Aj will definitely like them. Plus it was  Taylor's  favorite, cookies with chocolate chips. She wouldn't  stop eating  them when she was younger.

Silvia was the first to woke up around five. She was looking for me because the bed was empty. We had a little disagreement with her trying to get me to sleep and my trying to convince her that I am fine.

After that Lia woke up and left for school. Not long after Silvia took Aj to school too but came back. She called sick to work because she thought it would be best for us if we spend some time together. At least that's what  she said. I believe she is worried about me and wants to make sure I am fine, which I am.

We spend our morning together playing silly games and baking stuff. Around eleven o'clock I started feeling weird. Like something bad was happening. My mother instincts was going off.

I told Silvia about it but she said it was just my mind playing games because I was worried about Taylor but I could feel it was something more.

Not even half an hour later the phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered. It was a woman on the other line that I wasn't familiar with. I heard what she had to say and I felt my knees getting weak.

"She what...?" I asked her and then...

Trying to post more often.

My goal will be at least three chapters a week.
