Alex's POV

"Ok, thank you." I said and closed the phone.

"So? Did you find anything?" She asked me.

"No she told me that there are not available apartments as I want them until next month but she will call me if something to my liking comes up sooner." I said with a sign and sat on the opposite side of her.

"I would tell you to come with me but I don't have any space. Just the couch. Plus my sister would hate me even more if I would take you away from them." She said.

"Sara, your sister doesn't hate you. She is just upset." I said and she just looked down. "Sorry about ambushing you the other day. It was just a lot for all of us. Do you want to talk about it?" I continued.

"At that moment, it seemed like the best option, and even after anything that happened after this, if I could go back and change things, I wouldn't." She paused. I stayed quiet, she is not a person that opens up easily so I let her talk. "After you left, it was like everyone pressed pause on their lives. Lia was closing up, Taylor quit soccer and started working out alone, all day, their girlfriends were there for them thankfully. Summer's heart was becoming weaker due to stress and anxiety, Silvia was pregnant, which I found out the day you left. They were coming to tell you about it together. The problem is, Silvia was focused on Summer and was so worried about you that she didn't took care of herself and the baby. This is why when she found out there were some complications but thank God everyone is good now. I know it sounds like an excuse but, you told me to protect them and at that moment, that was the only thing that I could do. Your absence and the constant 'waiting for Alex' was hurting all of them." She said.

"I know. Sara you are my best friend. I trust you more than anyone. If you did it I know you had your reasons. Thank you for taking care of them till I came back." I told her and she smiled.

"Thank you for coming back. You scared me there for a moment." She said and we both laughed it off. "So, what is up with the scar?" She asked me pointing at my eye.

I don't want to talk about it but I can't just say that. She won't accept it. "People say it is hot. I am getting older I had to step up my game." I told her with a wink and she shook her head in disbelief.

"After two years in the 'special' military and you are still an idiot."

"Well..." my phone rand before I could continue. I looked at Sara so I wouldn't be rude.

She looked at my phone and read her sister's name. "Pick it up before she comes here." She said making me laughing.

"Yes" I said trying to contain my laugh.

"Hey, I am actually at Silvia's office. Could you come by so we can talk about the apartment thing?" She asked me.

"Yeah, of course. I will be there in a little. See you then." I told her. She said goodbye and hung up.

"So, the queen calls and you, as the good loyal knight do as she says. Not many things have changed have they?" Sara teased me.

"Well, I am a soldier after all. Plus, she is not my queen anymore. Or more likely I am not her knight." I said standing up to leave.

"Correction, or you just have two queens to run for." She said as I was exiting the coffee shop that we were in.

"Shut up Sara." And with that I left for the hospital that Silvia works at.
