CHAPTER 24: I Miss Him

I can't focus. I can't focus on anything.

Today's my birthday, yet all I can think about is the boy I bumped into earlier today. He's here. He's back. As much as I wanted to chase after him and jump into his arms, I couldn't. All I had left was my dignity. I couldn't bare losing that too, can I?

"You okay?" Austin whispered into my curly blonde locks. I nodded.

We've been walking for quite a while now and I think my legs are going to give up on me sooner or later. "Are we there yet?" I complained, for what seemed like the millionth time. "Patience, we're almost there." Katie said.

I don't even know where we are. I have no idea where we're heading to. They blind-folded me and I was grasping on Austin for support. I hope I don't run into a tree or something.

"You can take off the blindfold now." Austin said.

I undid the knot that was made from the blindfold and slipped it off. The first thing I saw were lights. Lights everywhere. And to be honest, it blinded me for a second. I quickly blinked a couple of times and took in the sight.

This.. The amusement park?

I looked at Austin and he merely smiled at me. Katie's eyes were glistening on all the rides on every corner.

This was the old, abandoned amusement park that me and Austin used to sneak into when we were kids. I've forgotten all about this ever since he left.

There was this switch behind a growing vine, and when you turned it on, all the lights would come on and the rides would be activated. Oh how I missed the simpler times like these.

Usually, when we were younger, Austin would take me here when I was upset about something. And I'd always leave happy. This park sure brings back some happy memories.

I grinned at Austin. "I can't believe you still remembered about this place." I told him.

"I would never forget this place. We had so many memories here." He smiled. "Yep. Good times." I replied. He offered his hand to me. "Let's go?" I nodded and took his hand into mine.

We walked into the direction Katie had run off to a few seconds ago. She's really hyped up for this. We stared at her weirdly.

She caught us and gave us a death glare. "What? It's my first time in an amusement park again. And the best part is, we have it all to ourselves! Let's go!!" she shrieked and pulled as along with her to a bunch of rides.

*

"That was the best day ever." I exclaimed.

"Agreed. Anyway, you should go to bed, Ali. Happy birthday!" Austin yelled out from the front door. He took me all the way home after the day at the amusement park.

Katie had been constantly complaining about how she doesn't want to go yet and stuff. But, we promised to come back there soon.

I shut the door behind me and smiled. "Happy birthday, my dear Sapphire!" my aunt gave me a bear hug. "Thanks, Mel." I hugged her back.

"Are you hungry? I made dinner." she offered. I shook my head, "No, thank you. I'm good."

"Very well. You going to bed now?" she asked. I thought for a while. I didn't want this day to end just yet. "Can we watch a movie?" I asked.

"Of course we can!" she smiled and dragged me over to the sofa. She made me take a seat as she rummaged through our drawer of DVDs. "Whatcha want to watch?" she asked.

"How bout a classic Harry Potter?" I smiled. I've always been into Harry Potter. It was one of those many things I had in common with Greyson. Wait. Oh gosh, I need to stop thinking about Greyson. This movie would only make me think about him more.

"I changed my mind. I don't want to watch Harry Potter." I said as my aunt was already putting the DVD in. She looked up at me and nodded. She took out the DVD again and put it back in it's case.

"How about Toy Story 3?" Aunt asked, holding up the DVD case for me to see. I nodded.

After about half an hour, Aunt Mel had already fallen asleep. I ran to get her some blankets and placed them over her body.

I turned off the telly and grabbed my coat from the coat rack.

I stepped outside as I pulled the coat tighter around my body. Sure is one cold night. I grabbed my phone in my pocket and checked the time. 10:45pm.

It's not that late yet. And I really could use a walk to clear my head. I walked through the lonely streets of Oklahoma. There weren't that many cars passing by any more.

I can't help but think about that unexpected meeting with Greyson again. He changed. He's not that carefree mofo I used to know anymore. He's different now. Maybe because of the fame? Please no.

I miss him. The old him.

As I was focused on thinking about all this, I felt a hand grab my arm and pull me into a dark alleyway. Oh no. This cannot be good.

I tried to shrug, but I couldn't. I was being pinned to the wall by a weird man, wearing a black mask. "Give me your money!" he yelled at me.

"I didn't bring any." I stated, trying to sound calm. But I'm freaking out inside. Someone help me!!!

He pulled out a knife from his back pocket and pointed it in my face. "Have any, now?"

I looked at the sharp object, wide-eyed. "Umm.. Today's my birthday. Do you really want to hurt a poor girl on her birthday?" I stuttered.

He grinned at me creepily. Why did I just say that?!

He pressed the knife on my cheek and slowly slid it down while singing me a birthday song. I yelped in pain. I could feel the blood ooze out of the mark he had just left.

"Hello?" A voice yelled out, coming from outside the alleyway. I heard the man swear under his breath. He kneed my stomach and quickly escaped. I collapsed to the ground.

I felt a body move over to mine as I tried keeping my eyes open. It was all to blurry. I couldn't see who it was.

"ALLISON?!?!" An oddly familiar voice exclaimed. That's when I blacked out.
