I felt something rather cold and kind of sticky upon my face. I don't know how exactly because Percy (yes, Percy Jackson. I loved that book) was just caressing my cheeks. Then I heard stifled giggles. Percy was probably going to laugh at how ridiculous I looked but instead held my hips and pulled me close to him. Just when he was about to lean in for a kiss, the image faded and I heard the snap of a camera. Wait, a camera?
I shot my eyes open and murderingly looked around for the trespasser. That little troublemaker is gonna get it. And just when my dream was getting to the good part, he just had to wake me up. "Trevor, you little shit, where are you?" I called as I tried to find him. I got up from bed and checked the bathroom. I gazed to my opened door and a sudden bright light flashed and blinded me, followed by a snap. I tried to clear my vision and looked straight at my annoying little brother. He grinned, "Nice face mask, sis." What?
I reluctantly held my hand up to my face and widened my eyes when I felt a sticky sensation. I could literally feel the heat rising up to my cheeks. He just fucking covered my face with whipped cream. "Are you serious? This is the oldest prank in the book!" I yelled as I threw the cream I scraped off my face at him. He tried to dodge it but it hit his chest. He smiled and held up the camera, "Can I show the pictures to everyone then?" I took a deep breath, trying to keep my cool. I had to get that thing. I probably looked horrible. I mean, I always look horrible but those pictures just crossed the line. I grabbed a tissue from my sidetable and wiped a straight line through my eyes so I looked like I had a mask on. I grabbed my glasses and wore them.
I held up three of my fingers to Trevor, "I'm giving you a 3-second head start." "Only three? Don't you love me more than that?" he whined, immaturely. For someone who's fourteen, he sure is a baby. "One.." I started. He sprinted off and I quickly followed. He looked back for a second, only realising that I stopped counting. "What the hell happened to 2 and 3?!" he yelled as he ran. He was a fast runner, to be honest. It was expected, he was part of the soccer team at school. And he was next in line to be captain. And plus, he was fit. Compared to him, I was probably a pig.
"Shit!" I yelled as I fell down, 'accidentally'. My leg was in a really weird position, as if all the bones had vanished. "Sis?" he called out and looked back. He ran back to me, without even thinking twice. Worry overpowered in his eyes as he kneeled down to examine what was wrong. "Nothing seems brok-" I gripped onto his collar and yanked him close . This was the correct intimidating position, 2 inches away from him, so you could get all in his face. "Give me the fucking camera," I threatened. He looked startled for a second, but quickly recovered. "Nicely played sis," he grinned and placed the camera on my lap, "Here you go. I won't be so soft-hearted next time." I still felt unsatisfied with myself. I felt like he still had the photo but I shrugged it off. The evidence was on my lap.
I scowled at him and scraped some whipped cream off my cheeks. I threw it at his nose. "Eww!" he shrieked and frantically wiped the cream off, "It's in my nose!". I laughed uncontrollably at him, "What does sweet revenge smell like?". He glared at me, "Shut up." We just sat there in the hall, wiping and throwing whipped cream at each other for a few minutes when Mom came by. "Causing such a ruckus in the morning? Look at this mess! And you two have school, hurry up and bathe," Mom glared at us. Uh oh. We we're so dead when we get home later. She turned her attention to me and I shivered. Is she gonna blame me for this again? Usually she'll be like: "You're the eldest, aren't you? Why didn't you reprimand him?" or "You're supposed to be responsible. I expected more from you." Those words used to sting, but I've heard them so many times before that I couldn't care less. "Someone's waiting for you outside, Grace, so hurry up."
I cringed when I heard my second name. She's the only one who calls me by that and I absolutely despise it. I wonder who was at the door though? I nodded and quickly rushed off to my room.
* * * * *
I heard laughter outside as I approached the front door. "Mom, where's Trevor?" I asked. "He's waiting outside. Oh and don't think I forgot what mess you two made. Both of you are on dish-washing duty for a week," she glared at me. I knew better than to talk back so I just nodded obediently. Dish-washing wasn't the worst punishment she could give. Though making me do it with Trevor was probably a bad idea. I pondered on how we would make a mess as we washed dishes when I pushed the door open and Trevor's laughter fluttered, followed by one I barely knew.
"Allison!" I recognized that voice perfectly. "Lu! What are you doing here?" I said as I ran over to her vintage '66 Ford Mustang. "Taking you kids to school before I head over to uni myself", she smiled, "Get in." I obliged. When I found myself sitting in the shotgun seat, the engine roared to life. "Oh wait, Trevo-" I heard stifled giggles from the back seat. I turned and caught sight of my little brother smiling. I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously and he just grinned at me. Idiot.
The person he was seated with was.. I forgot the name. I think it started with a B. I was probably staring at him for too long because beside me, Lucy giggled, "Like what you see? I thought you had the hots for Dylan." I looked at her and blushed. "Sorry. I was just trying to figure out what his name was again," I pointed over to the guy beside my brother, trying to ignore the Dylan thing. "Really now? You just met him this morning and you already forgot his name?" I kept my gaze on the floor, "I do know it starts with a B."
The hazel-haired guy said "It's not Butch" the same time I said "It's Butch!" and for a moment, we just stared at each other. Lucy and Trevor burst out laughing. Trevor clapped in amusement, "What kind of a name is Butch?" When the laughter died down, Lu said, "It's Michael."
"Greyson." Butch corrected.
"I still prefer Michael."
"It's my name not yours."
"Yeah? Well, I'm older than you."
"That doesn't give you a say in what people call me."
"Yes, it does."
"No, it doesn't"
"Shut up, Butch."
The following 15 minutes of the car ride only consisted of conversations between Trevor and Butch, Lu's constant tapping on the driver's wheel, and me almost dying of boredom. The car halted to a stop and the three of us spilled outside and said our goodbyes to Lu. The two went ahead. I was about to follow, but Lu called me back. "Why are you still here?" She smiled sadly, "Will you please keep an eye on Greyson for me? Keep him out of trouble? Just in school? Please." "Why? He's big enough to keep himself out of trouble", I responded rashly. She sighed deeply, "Yes, but at times, he acts without thinking. Please. Just a favor." I hesitated. I didn't really like making promises, but Lu was one of the only friends I had and I couldn't let her down. "I guess, I'll try," I said. "Thank you," she smiled wildly and pointed behind me, "I see with my little eye, a guy that Allison likes."
I blushed and turned around. There he was indeed, Dylan Saunders, the school's hottie, being greeted by a swarm of 8th graders. His light brown hair was perfectly styled upwards in a quiff, and his dazzling blue eyes sparkled when he smiled. I turned back to tell Lu to shut up, but she was gone. "Allison!" Trevor called, "Hurry up and get over here!" He had his arm around Butch like they were the best of friends. They only met each other 30 minutes ago. They were standing next to where Dylan was and Trevor smiled knowingly at me and wiggled his brows. I walked toward them so I could punch that annoying face off of Trevor.
I looked over at Butch as I walked. Seems like I have to babysit someone at school.
