A/n hi! Thank you for being patient enough to get to this chapter 💕 I just want to thank all of you for your votes and comments<3 I love you for staying to read! Your support is wonderful!!
*Ava's POV*
In the evening, no matter how much I asked Ivy to stay the night she declined and and rode off on her bike with a promise to visit soon. I guess that Reese being a human survivor is not half as exciting as a mutant or whatever she was expecting.
"Do you actually own all this?" Reese asked with curiosity in his voice.
I joined him sitting on the grass.
"Yeah. How the hell did you end up here anyway?"
"...I hear you dragged, me in?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Yes, but, you know. What's the zombie apocalypse backstory for you?" I tried again, waving my hands about in persistence.
"School."
"Oh" how depressing. Stuck with all the horrible kids at school when the national news reveals people are acting as if they have rabies with additional hunger for human death, and for the cherry on top, they are dead corpses. Lovely.
"Parents came to pick me up. They- they left my sibling at home to come get me. I don't want to remember any more." He went quiet, and I didn't know what to say.
"Hey, I'm sorry, but I don't know how to deal with grief so unless you want me to joke about it then you're gonna have to stop sobbing."
He wiped a single tear from his eyes and stared at me with disbelief. Then he smiled. I now considered becoming a stand up comedian if the zombie stuff ever blew over.
"You are something else, Ava. Something else." And with a shake of his head he turned away and closed his eyes.
I also closed my eyes, but after a while I opened them again.
"I-" I stopped myself before I could wake him.
Instead I rolled over to my side and observed Reese in envy at how fast he could fall asleep.
A/N Hey, sorry for this chapter being so short, I wasn't sure what to write, the next is longer, promise :)
