"Here you go, your food done and I'll just leave it here"

Verr Goldet brought the two dishes of food on a tray and left it on the table. She bowed right before leaving and Xiao slowly picked up the fork. He cut off a small piece and put it into his mouth

"You can eat you know"

Xiao raised his eyebrow and questioned why Ganyu was just staring at the food

"I..."

Ganyu sighed and hesitantly took the other fork

"Since you were so nice to order it for me... I suppose I have to eat it to not be rude..."

She poked around at the leaves for a bit before stabbing on with the fork. They both continued to eat in silence but Xiao found it really awkward so he tried to start a conversation.

"So what do you do at work?"

She looked at the ceiling and thought about it for a bit before answering

"Mm... just the usual stuff like taxes, laws, different contracts and business. My scope of work spans through a lot of different things so it's kinda all over the place"

She took a few petals of the sweet flowers and happily chewed on them. Xiao also continued to eat and was about to ask something else right when Ganyu asked him a question of her own

"What about you Xiao? What's your work like?"

"You know just the normal stuff, slaying demons, killing hilichurls... and..."

"And...?"

His mind blanked as he hesitated to say the next words. He knew that the Liyue Qixing were not on good terms with the fatui. That little detail mattered because they were also trying to kill their secretary as well as one of the adeptus' that helped defeat Osial.

He knew that telling Ganyu would only pour gasoline onto the already growing flame. So instead he simply just shook his head and dismissed his previous words

"Just demons and hilichurls, the abyss order is really planning something"

"Yeah... I can't help but worry about the future of Teyvat"

She tucked her hai behind her ear and continued to eat through the bowl of salad. Xiao didn't even realise that she had almost finished everything.

"You seem to still like food just as much as you did back in the mountains"

Her head shot up and blush coated her cheeks in embarrassment.

"N-no!! I was just trying to finish what you got for me..."

Xiao chuckled then gave her a gentle and calming smile

"I'm just messing with you"

The girl was surprised by his sudden change. She knew he wasn't really one to give such a kind smile, let alone joke around. The only reaction she could give was a shy smile of her own.

She finished the last leaf of her salad and Xiao took another bit of his tofu. Ganyu put the bowl back onto the tray then let her eyes wonder to Xiao's figure.

Of course he noticed straight away but his awkward mind didn't know what to say so he just stayed silent. He watched as Ganyu stared at his arms then his torso then finally his face. Only then did they lock eyes and Ganyu realised what she was doing

"Sorry for staring at you..."

She averted her gaze by staring at the lamp next to the bed. Xiao was unsure of what to do so her could only try to finish his food.

Once he finished, he placed the plate onto the tray and picked it up. He stood up and walked to the door, catching Ganyu's attention.

"Where are you going?"

"To return the plates"

"I'll come along, I don't want to stay here alone"

He gave her a small nod and allowed her to trail behind him. Her arm extended out to open the door and the two of them walked down together.

"Do you still take care of yourself? You seem to be heathy in every other way... except that you seem to jump straight into battle all the time with no regard for your own safety"

"Mm, I think I'm doing fine thank you very much. You should worry more about yourself, I can literally see how tired you are"

As they continued to talk, the curious gazes of other guests were on them. After all, it's not everyday you see the great vigilant yaksha talking so casually to one of the Qixing members.

Xiao quickened his pace and Ganyu sped up as well, meaning that they both reached down into the kitchen pretty quickly. Xiao left the tray on one of the tables and without thinking, he grabbed Ganyu's hand and (carefully) dragged her back to his room

"Xiao! Wait slow down!!"

He came to an abrupt stop resulting in Ganyu bumping into him. Xiao pulled her hand out of pure instincts so that she wouldn't fall

"Woah! Thanks but why are you is such a rush all of a sudden??"

"Oh sorry, I just didn't like the stares people were giving us"

She dramatically sighed and brushed down her clothing

"Well you could have warned me at least!"

"I'm sorry Ganyu"

"Hm, no worries. Let's walk now, this area isn't so crowded"

Ganyu then let go of Xiao's hand, making him realise how much he liked holding it. The warmth from her hand was somehow comforting and he couldn't help but yearn for the warmth to return. As they continued to walk back, Xiao wanted to take her hand that was resting beside her but the embarrassment that was sure to come along with the warmth intimidated him.

"Come on don't just stand there... go in!"

Xiao slipped in and Ganyu shut the door. He sat down on the bed while she went to go drag a chair over

"Do you have any plans for today, Xiao?"

"Mm... not exactly, usually I do most of my work at night then I do stuff that doesn't put a toll on my body"

She carefully listened then smiled before continuing the conversation

"I was planning to just come visit you then leave before nightfall but I guess I kinda lost track of time"

She let out a nervous chuckle before looking at the clock in the room. Her eyes widened then she jolted up, grabbing her bag and tossing it over her shoulder

"I should head to work now, take care of yourself alright?"

Ganyu stood up and smiled right before disappearing into a white light. Xiao stared at where she was just standing and sighed before getting up

"I should get back to work as well..."

He felt a little sad that he couldn't say goodbye to her in time but then deep down he knew that she was much too busy to care about him. He took a deep breath and picked up his spear

"Time to start my own work now"

I feel bad for not updating much but I couldn't write yesterday because I had to unpack 91 boxes T-T
I spent the whole day doing that then I was much too exhausted so I hope you understand ^^'

Anyways, I think some people are starting to find this story but they probably find it pretty trashy so they stopped reading :D

It's 1am and I was helping my friend with her new VTuber model so I only got to finish the chapter now ^^
It is 1am so I'm gonna try and sleep now :>
