After a small stroll around, Ganyu and Xiao found themselves sitting under the shade of a tree. The moon was still bright in the sky and Ganyu swung her feet ever so slightly.

A small breeze came to blow around the two adepti and the wind mixed with the cool aura coming from Ganyu. The two of them quietly stared up to the sky completely unaware that they were still holding hands.

"Xiao..."

"Hm?"

The younger turned his head to gaze at Ganyu's side profile. Her purple eyes glistened in the light and the slight fade the yellow made for a beautiful contrast. Her lips curved up into a smile as she looked to meet Xiao's eyes

"It's been a long while since we saw each other last... how have you been?"

Xiao just scoffed and turned away from Ganyu.

"Still the same, I haven't changed"

His attitude came to no surprise for Ganyu. She had been expecting it as the male showed no signs of changing.

"I suppose the karmic debt laid upon you is still in act?"

Xiao didn't reply so Ganyu just continued to speak

"You should really take care of yourself..."

"You do as well..."

"Eh?"

Xiao muttered out his sentence but Ganyu still heard it. She smiled at his concern but shook her head

"The humans depend on me, but more importantly... they trust me. I will not betray their trust, they believe I will up hold me end of the stick so I will do my best to. Even if it takes a toll on me"

Ganyu explained her reasonings behind working so hard but Xiao just found it harder and harder to empathise with her

"Is it really worth it though?"

"Hm... perhaps it does not benefit me but if it helps the city then I am still completing my contract"

Her smile and her tone was quite cheerful and it didn't hide any sense of regret. Xiao could see that Ganyu enjoyed her work but the heavy workload took a lot out of her.

Xiao slightly squeezed his hand and the thought finally occurred to him that they hadn't let go of each other.'s hands. The sudden realisation made him embarrassed and he quickly retracted his hand. Ganyu let out a small giggle before putting her hand on her lap

"I know you don't understand my way of helping the city and I know that you want me to take it easy but if I'm being honest? I personally don't mind the extra work... I suppose people call it a hobby!"

"Your hobby is your work...?"

She nodded but Xiao was still showing visible confusion

"A hobby is something you enjoy doing, something you would do whenever you had free time... that's how my work is. I enjoy it and I'd do it all the time"

The male adeptus couldn't help but feel envious towards the girl sitting beside of him. Her carefree mind and her happy demeanour was something Xiao had only ever dreamed of. His life was only a loop of killing, slaughtering and suffering.

Ganyu realised his sudden change in mood and wrapped her arm around his waist just to pull him closer. The action made Xiao's ears go red as he felt her gloved hand brush through his knotted hair.

"Tonight is a night when you can relax... let go of all those negative feelings and let your mind be clear of everything else..."

She continued to gently brush his hair as his head found its way onto her shoulder. The two continued to comfort and talk to each other. They caught up will each other just as they would've done 2000 years ago. The time they spent together all those years ago felt the same as this very night. It's as if someone had turned back time to when they both lived together.
Aww
"Hey Ganyu?"

"Hm? What is it Xiao?"

"Why did you choose to come to the city?"

The question left the girl speechless as she contemplated on how the answer it. She eventually found a suitable answer as she opened her mouth to speak

"That will be something I answer later... I do not have the right words to say at this moment..."

Her shaky voice made Xiao feel a little guilty. He pulled out of Ganyu's embrace and turned away to let her get control of her thoughts.

"It's quite alright, you don't have to say"

He tried his best to help the situation but given his usual way of dealing with his own feelings, he knew he couldn't help much. Unknowing what to do, he just sat and waited until Ganyu spoke first. That which she did a few moments later, they continued to chat as normal friends but a strange feeling tugged at Xiao's heart.

As the night ended, Xiao walked with Ganyu back to her office and accompanied her inside. She sat down and stretched out her wrist to prepare herself for work. The admiration Xiao had for Ganyu just grew and grew during their little chats. He gave her one last gaze before turning away and putting his hand on the doorknob

"Thank you for tonight Xiao... I-I really enjoyed it..."

Ganyu spoke right before he opened the door and when he turned around, he saw her getting out of her seat and walk towards him. Her arms wrapped around Xiao in a way he had never experienced before. Usually at the contact of anyone else, he would immediately push them off and leave before they could say anything.

But somehow, Ganyu gave him a sense of relaxation. He had heard of this action called a hug from a traveller that went by the name of Aether. The traveler had taught him about all the actions of affection that people normally showed.

Seeing how he didn't respond to her hug, she quickly backed away and gave him a small wave accompanied with a smile.

"Do come by again soon, next time you can just tell the person outside that you're an older friend of mine. They'll let you in next time"

Xiao nodded and opened the door to leave. He quickly made his way out of the harbour and started walking back to Wangshu Inn. As he recalled everything that had happened in the previous night, everything Ganyu said somehow made Xiao want to see her again.

His mind could only think of the girl he had just spent a whole night with. A strange feeling erupted in his heart and he didn't know what was happening.

"Maybe I'll give her another visit after a few days..."
