There's Always Second Chances

Chapter 20

I woke up this morning to a call. Its been a few days since the crash. I answered it and it was the school. They understood how close Andrea was to us and told us to have a day off. They also said how they were going to email us the school work. For the past three days they've called the same.  I remembered about Delilah's room how it looked pulled apart. Did something happen? 

Getting up, I walked downstairs and sat with Søren at the dining room table. He cradled a hot cup of tea in his hands. Did he even sleep last night? "Andrea's going to be okay. They called me this earlier to tell me they've stabilised her and she's in recovery now. She could even come home today." Søren said without me having to ask. So he's been up longer than I have. 

"I'm going to check out Delilah's room," I blurted out. Søren lifted his head to look at me with confusion. "What's in Delilah's room?" he asked. That's a good point. What is in there? She was always in her room before she left this house. Always muttering under her breath and cutting herself off when she spotted one of us three. Then she'd act like nothing was wrong. The only person who has been in Delilah's room is Andrea but then nothing happened out of the unusual. 

"It was a mess. It looked destroyed, so I want to find some answers. It's time to find out who Delilah really is," I said. He followed me up the stairs and we turned the light on in Delilah's room. The glint that reflect from the knife in the cork board brought notice to it. I pulled out the knife out of Andrea's picture. Why? What sort of person is Delilah? Why would she want this? 

"Søren, I think Delilah was planning to kill Andrea," I remarked. Søren walked over to me, after he folded up the quilt on the floor, to look at the board. He read the notes on the board, followed the lines made of string to our photos. "She planned it all?" Søren asked. It was like everything was suddenly falling into place. Anders leaving, Andrea's attacks, the way Delilah acted when I said about the cork board. What it didn't explain was why was I her target? 

She planned it all. "Hello?" Søren asked as he picked up the phone. It had disrupted our little investigation. He mouthed that it was the doctor we spoke to at the hospital before he stepped out of the room while I continued looking. There was a heart around Anders' face and then a big black cross from corner to corner of the photo. 

There was notes on the board. 

'I love Anders' 'Get Andrea and Søren to date' 'I love Adrian' 'Carrie at prom' 

They were all attached to the photos. I turned my attention to her vanity. The mirror was smashed and the glass was all over the top of a diary. I flipped through the pages. At the beginning there was mentions of a girl back in New York that seemed to have suffered the same fate as Andrea. Not the same things happening but the same sort of torment. Only this other girl managed to move away. 

There was also mentions of medication that a therapist had prescribed Delilah. There was a lot of pages full of Delilah complaining about the new school, about me, Søren and Andrea. I turned the page one more time and it was dated back to the first prom. 

'Dear diary, 

It's me again. Last night was amazing. I slept with Anders. Well I forced him to. He wasn't even conscious. It felt so wonderful. I left him in a classroom out of the way so no one suspected a thing. I also managed to watch as my plan to ruin Andrea's popularity happened. You should have seen as the blood fell all over her and the look on Adrian's face as everyone laughed at her. I think that'll teach her for being friends with Adrian. No one will suspect what happened to Anders either.'

She raped Anders? I felt sick but I needed to know more. If she planned that, I need to know what else she's planned. After that entry it just got worse and worse.
