Today was the day. 5 days have passed and I've made sure to make some lasting memories with Andrea and Søren before they depart. I walked alongside them in the airport knowing that I was going to be leaving without them. I sat with them all the way until their plane was called for boarding.
"We'll see you soon Adrian," Søren said. It was short and sweet. We didn't utter goodbye in fear that we'll never see each other again. He pulled me into a hug and then stepped away to pull his carry on bag on his shoulder. Most of his stuff was shipped home ages ago.
"We promise to write letters everyday to update you on how things are going. I hope I get to see a lot of photos of you and Naomi. I don't want to miss a thing as she grows bigger. Please take care Adrian. Me and Søren are going to miss you a lot. I hope we get to see each other again soon." Andrea spoke. Her voice was strained as she held back the tears.
I pulled her into one last hug and I watched as they waved goodbye at the departure gate. The creeping loneliness finally set in as I watched their plane take off from the window of the airport. I have one last thing to do before I finally get on a plane tomorrow and put all of this behind me. Time to make peace with my enemy.
I hired a babysitter and asked them to watched Naomi for me while I go and do some important business. A prison was no place for a baby.
Walking into the facility had me questioning whether I really wanted to do this. I urged myself to go through with it. If I don't say the things I have to say now then I'll always regret it. I saw her sitting behind the thick sheet of bulletproof glass. She looked crazed, rocking back and forth and watching the floor. She looked surprised when she looked up. She mirrored me in picking up the phone.
"Adrian," she greeted calmly. Don't say my name. "You should be in a padded cell," I remarked. I had overheard the guard when I came in that she was drawing on the walls with her own blood and just sitting in a corner and uttering my name over and over again. She giggled and smiled sweetly at me. Don't smile at me, you have no right to smile at me after putting me through hell.
I flicked through my phone and showed her every image that was on it. Of her journal, of her murder board. "This, this is disgusting. This is what I found on the night you left Naomi with me. A board with everything connected together like everything you did was all planned out like a game. Was I game to you?"
I waited for her response but she kept silent, just staring at me with wide eyes. Finally she shook her head no. I wasn't a game to her? I'm sure she saw things differently to how I did. She was deluded beyond help.
"You're sick. Raping Anders was planned. Causing Andrea humiliation was planned. You even went as far as to plan Søren's murder but never went through with it. Was it because he scared you. Is that why you didn't do it?" I spoke. I guess she was too afraid of Søren to even try to murder him. I didn't care about keeping my voice down. It was all over the papers about what she'd done. 'Millionaire's daughter shames family' A whole front page article about her and her crazy antics.
"What are you doing? Punishing me? Everything I did was for you. It was for us to be together and be happy." she asked me. It was for us to be together? How obsessed with me was she? This was just riling me up. These weren't straight answers. This was just the beginnings of babblings from insanity.
"Bullshit, you did it because you hated yourself. You did it because you wanted all the attention on the fact that you tried to paint yourself as this rich white girl when instead you're foreign just like all the people you've hurt. You didn't do it for us. If you knew anything about why I wouldn't date you then there's your reason. I saw through you. I knew you were just obsessed with yourself and that I was a conquest just because I was one of the popular guys at school." I snapped.
