Dom and the crew had just gotten back from Mexico after taking down Ramon Campos, a drug lord who used street racers to smuggle heroin across the border. He was hosting a dinner at his place before the crew went their separate ways again, and he invited me to attend.

It started at 7 sharp, and he usually hated when people were late, but often made exceptions for me. I was in my first semester of clinicals for vet school, and they were harsh. Usually from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m., but on this particular day, my instructor let us out early at 6:35. I made a mad dash for my car and jumped in, throwing my bag in the back as I drove off to Dom's house.

I'd met most of what Dom had called the family already - Lety and Mia, Brian, Tej and Roman, but there was another person who Dom said I had to meet. I knew I was going to make a terrible first impression. My hair was up in a messy bun and all over the place from being up for 14 hours, and I was wearing a dark black scrub top with scrub joggers that had various animal fur all over them.

At 7:02, I pulled up at Dom's house and parked my car a little bit down the street, taking one last look at myself in my rearview mirror before getting out and speed walking up to the front door. I knocked on the door and stepped back, expecting Dom to answer and lecture me on being late.

While I waited, I reached up and took my hair out of the bun, sighing at the relief I felt from the weight being taken off my head. I tilted my head forward and ran my fingers through it, trying to bring volume to the limp mane on my head. As I was doing that, the door swung open, and I stood up, my eyes widening when I saw that the man was, in fact, not Dom.

He was tall, if not slightly taller than Dom, with a beautiful complexion and slick black hair that stopped just above his shoulders. He was muscular from what I could see in his chest and shoulders, and he was eating out of a bag of chips.

"You are not Dom," were the first words that rolled off of my tongue as he looked me up and down while leaning against the doorframe. "You must be the one I haven't met yet."

"You must be Audrey," He said as he gave me a side smile. "I've already heard about you. I'm Han."

"Nice to meet you, Han," I said as we shook hands before he moved to let me step inside.

"Audrey! There you are! You're late again," Dom said as he came into the living room. "Nice outfit of choice. I see you've already met Han. He's who I wanted you to meet."

"Yeah, I met him already," I laughed as I looked up at him when he moved next to me. "I'm sorry. You know my clinicals usually run until 7, but we got out early today. I didn't have time to change," I laughed with a blush, feeling my cheeks heat up.

"I think she looks great," Han said with a shrug as we moved to head out back where the others were setting up.

Dom chuckled as he opened up the patio door, allowing me to walk out first.

"You two seem like you'll get along great."

We'd gotten a booth at the back of the Mexican restaurant across the street from the hotel and were eating out of a bowl of chips and salsa.

"This is a cute little place," I commented as I looked around at the paintings on the walls before taking another chip from the bowl after Han did. "Have you ever eaten here?"

"No," He answered as he looked at me while he popped another chip in his mouth. He used to be a heavy smoker, but quit after years of smoking. Since then, he relied on snacks to keep both his hands and mouth busy, and when we started dating, he joked that I kept his mouth busy. "It's not much, but maybe it could count as our first date...in a year."
