Going on vacation this weekend so don't expect me to be posting! I will be writing if I ever get bored.
~ Techno's POV ~
This was to be expected. But still, it shook her up so much. When we were out of hearing range from Sapnap's cell, I stopped. She just kept staring at the ground, trembling every now and then like she was cold. Of course, she wasn't. She had simply been spooked by Sapnap.
I leaned down, my back facing her. "Climb on, I don't want you to put too much strain on your leg."
I was met with silence, yet she did climb on my back. I stood up and continued on, waving bye when we got to Sam. When we were about halfway up the stairs and she still hadn't spoken, I nudged her.
"Hey, you alright?" I asked.
She was silent at first. When she did speak, it came out as more of a mumbled, "I guess so." She didn't sound scared, but annoyed. My guess was she was annoyed that she had been scared so badly.
"...Hey, what did you say to Sapnap during your battle? He mentioned it and I'm just...curious." She finally said aloud, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I stopped, we were now at the top step, but I truly didn't know. Instead, I took a deep breath. "I think it's time you know why I space out...because I honestly don't remember the entire fight." I continued on and opened the door, where we were met with a blinding bright light from the windows.
I closed the door behind us, making sure it locked, before going down the hallway to where my bedroom was.
When we got there, I found Phil waiting for us.
"We need to discuss what happens next. If we don't do this properly, everyone will panic..." he stopped when he saw Y/N, her body language must be giving her away.
"Phil, I'm telling her about...yknow...them. She deserves to know."
Phil's eyes went wide. "I'll respect your decision, but are you sure? You've only shared that with family thus far..."
I nodded, and gestured for Phil to leave, and so he did.
I set a confused Y/N down back on the bed, and tucked her in again. She clearly didn't have the energy to argue about it, and I even saw her stifle a yawn.
She spoke. "So, what's this big secret?"
I cleared my throat and sat at the edge of the bed, my back facing her. "Well...uh...the reason I space out- don't think I'm crazy- is because there's voices in my head. They tell me what to do, they taunt me, and if they get mad enough they even take over. When that happens, it's like watching my life in the backseat. I can vaguely see, hear, or feel what's happening."
The entire time, she just nodded. She didn't seem weirded out by it or anything. "What are they saying?"
I listened for a moment.
[...tell her we say hi...hello....hey pretty :))...]
"They uh...they say hi." I smiled back at her, and she replied with just nodding.
"How long have you been able to hear them?" She asked with a curious tone of voice.
I thought on that for a moment. "I...I don't actually know, it's just something that happened one day, yknow? I thought it would go away but it didn't..."
She nodded again, before lunging out and grabbing my hand. "And what do they say about me?" She asked, wonder filling her eyes.
I smiled at her, before listening in again.
[...very pretty...she's great!...you like her too~...]
"They say you're pretty, and they like your presence." I said, hiding my face. It felt warm, like when you stand out in direct sunlight and you feel the warmth from the sun.
Sadly, she's smart. "Awwww cute~ do you like my presence too?" She smirked.
I nearly choked. "Yeah- I mean, you're not bad- oh I didn't mean it like that- I uh..." I stuttered, making her smile grow even wider. I had no doubt there was a slight blush crossing my face right now.
"Come here, you give good hugs." She said, her arms open wide. I hesitated for a moment, before complying and hugging her back.
"You know, it's been a minute since I've enjoyed a hug. Other than this morning, I don't think I've even had one in a few months, maybe years. Maybe it's because I was too stubborn to accept help or ever admit that I needed help from anyone. Either way, thanks." She said, a yawn escaping her.
I looked down at her, and pet her head again.
It was a moment before she spoke. "Will you read to me? You're voice...it's nice." She smiled.
And so, the rest of that night I spent reading to her. Specifically a book about murder, "The Meaning of Night" it was called. She would ask questions, or ask me to repeat a part sometimes.
"On the day of my twelfth birthday, in March 1832, I came down to breakfast to find...Y/N? You awake?"
I turned to look at her, and found her asleep and curled up right. She looked fragile, like a thin glass vase on the verge of being broken by the weight she carried. I wanted to protect that vase.
"Goodnight." I whispered, turning off the light with a smile.
"...night" she whispered back, still partially asleep.
