TW: slight blood warning (only a bit, but I figured that it would be best to warning it).
I'm going on a date today and didn't want to leave you guys hanging without a chapter, so here take an early chapter.
~ Y/N's POV ~
When Ranboo showed up again, I was surprised to be served an omelette instead of a pancake. I opened my mouth to ask, but before I could Ranboo pointed to Techno and I nodded in understanding.
He must have remembered then.
Once Ranboo was finished serving everyone, he turned his attention to King Phil.
"Anything else, your majesty?" He asked.
Phil smiled at the boy. "Yes, you can show these five men to their rooms. Thank you Ranboo, you're a great help."
Ranboo, grinning more than I've ever seen, nodded and turned his attention to King Dream and his advisors. "I assume you're tired from your journey; once you all finish your breakfasts I'll be waiting at the door." With that, he teleported away, I assume he was behind the doors.
King Phil turned his attention back to his sons and I, "as for us, once we're done with breakfast meet me in the study. Be there before 9, got it?" Once he was met with nods from all of us, he dismissed himself, taking his plate with him.
As soon as he was out the doors, I got out of my seat with my omelette and went over to Techno's chair, sitting on the arm of the chair.
"Hey, thanks for the omelette." I smiled, taking a bite.
"Yeah no problem." He replied, taking a bite out of his food as well.
Dream's advisor George suddenly approached the two of us, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of anger and glare at him. I despised him, mainly because he's the one who held me in place while I was getting slashed to ribbons. At least Sapnap had hard shell, but this guy seemed to open.
He held his hand out to me and Techno, "names George, I believe we started on the wrong foot."
"Yeah actually, I believe we started on the wrong leg." I replied quickly, gesturing to my scarred leg.
George nodded, "that's fair." When he reached out and grabbed my hand, Techno grabbed his wrist, glaring at him, until he let go.
"Ok, so you two obviously don't like me," We both scoffed, before I took another bite of food. "And that's fine; but...truce? I'm not asking for you to like me, just to cooperate with me until this is resolved."
I looked at Techno, whomst replied with "fine, but you so much as look at her wrong and your head will be hung on my wall. Got it?"
George, clearly satisfied that they could now get somewhat along, nodded and promised. "Well, I'm gonna go find the uh...Enderman guy."
"Ranboo." I corrected.
"Y-yeah, bye." He quickly walked away, being followed by Techno's deadly glare.
I put my food down on the table, pushing it away. "I don't have an appetite anymore."
Techno did the same with his plate. "Same, since they got here all I've been able to think about is...yknow...."
I remembered what he had confided in me one night; his screams would haunt him. I ran my fingers through his long hair, gently massaging his scalp to calm him down. When I looked around, I noticed that Tommy and Wilbur had already left and noticed it was almost 9.
"Cmon love, I don't want to make your dad mad right now." I said, getting on my feet and grabbing his hand.
He frowned before following, and we rushed down the hallway, leaving the rest of Dream and his team (minus George).
When we arrived at Phil's study, it was 9 on the dot.
"How nice of you two to show up." He said, amused by how out of breath we were.
Techno just waved to his father and brothers, leading me into the room and closing the door behind us, then sitting down next to Tommy while you sat down next to him.
King Phil looked off into the distance on thought, before he asked me what he always did. "Y/N, what are you picking up?"
I took a deep breath, gathering the information in my head. Ever since Phil discovered my skill at psychoanalyzing, he relies on me for it.
"Well, let's start from their wording. They're not careful about it, not making an effort to hide that they need help. That's the main thing that I'm worried about; they could be playing the pity card or be entirely sincere and I can't tell. As for them...they look exhausted, not physically, but mentally. If something bad happened, it must have been really bad. Of course, they claim it's a food shortage but I believe it has something to do with a disease too. Where hunger strikes, sickness follows. They also didn't bring guards; they might've wanted to arrive quickly, I doubt they could be hiding amongst the townsfolk, or they're all suffering or on strike." I said, recalling all that I remembered.
"Dream's apology was a point of weakness, but also not. He spoke like a ruler, a sincere man, then turned around and was rude to an advisor. I wasn't too bothered about it, but the fact that he so desperately tried to seem strong again shows just how weak he currently is." Once I was done, I realized I had picked my nails so much that they were bleeding, and I sighed. This happened pretty often.
After the first time it happened, Techno brought bandages with him to wrap my fingers, so naturally he pulled them out and started wrapping the fingers with blood pooling around the nails.
Tommy looked at me, mouth agape, and I realized Tommy didn't attend politics and therefore has never heard me talk about this. Phil simply nodded in reply, "thank you, sorry I know how painful that can be." He gestured to my fingers, still being wrapped, and I shrugged.
"...so, any ideas? Do we take the offer, or not?" He finally asked, letting the question hang in the air.
