What if Barry had been fired for skipping Central City and lying to his boss and then staying longer to save Oliver's life?
Oliver had put in a good word with Captain Lance who gave Barry a trial week, before he officially hired him as a csi for the SCPD instead. To celebrate Felicity and Laurel dragged Barry out for some drinks and at the end of the night a very drunk Barry starts hitting on Oliver. After taking care of a minor crime Oliver and Diggle arrived at Verdant where Thea, Roy, Laurel and Felicity had gotten Barry drunk.
"Hey!" The young CSI shouted excitedly and waved at them, but Oliver was just shaking his head in annoyance.
"Do you really think being hungover your first day at your new job is a good idea?" The archer asked and Barry just chuckled.
"Oh uh probably not." The young scientist said once he realized how drunk he was and clasped his hands over his mouth.
"My dad is gonna kill you!" Laurel said after taking a sip from a drink. "Unless Ollie doesn't beat him to it..." she added when she saw the glare Oliver sent the girls he knew was responsible. Because Barry hadn't seemed like much of a party person.
"Ask Oliver to take you home." Felicity said with a giggle as she bumped her shoulder against Barry's in a gesture for him to get up from the seat in the booth next to her. Because she knew that Barry had a big sized crush on Oliver Queen. The comment made him blush despite being drunk. Because Felicity hadn't said that as quietly as she should've. Oliver had definitely heard it and Barry tried to avoid looking directly at him. Then he got up from the booth and took a few steps forward. He felt dizzy and had to hold onto the table. Both because of the alcohol and because Oliver looked so handsome in his suit and tie.
"Mr Queen, would you be so kind and take me home?" the CSI asked and Oliver couldn't help but feel his heart started racing. No. This stupid annoying fanboy shouldn't make me feel like this.
"Come on. Let's go." Diggle said since Oliver didn't reply. Then they left the nightclub in a hurry that even led to Barry leaving his jacket behind with his phone in the pocket.
The cardrive home was pretty silent until Diggle had stopped the car outside the Queen Mansion, where Barry was staying in a guest room during his stay in Starling. "See you guys tomorrow." Diggle said while Oliver got out of the car.
"Bye Dig, thanks for the ride." Barry slurred while getting out of the car as well and then he had to steady himself on Oliver's arm to avoid tripping on the front steps.
"Good night." Oliver said to his friend before Diggle drove off and then he continued to lead Barry inside.
As soon as Barry entered the hallway he nearly tripped on the carpet if it hadn't been for the fact that he clutched onto Oliver and broke into nervous drunken laughter as he realized how close their bodies and faces were. "Wow you're really strong. And good looking. Anyone ever told you that? I guess people tell you that all the time." he started rambling while he was caressing the older man's scruffy face. "Those blue eyes. I could drown in them." The slurring continued. Oliver sighed and removed Barry's hands from his face and steered the drunk man into the guest room where he was staying for now. His stay better just be temporary because I don't know how long I can stand him before I do something stupid. I almost wanted to kiss him just now. And that would be incredibly stupid.
"Oh uh. I think I forgot my phone and my jacket back at the bar." Barry said when he discovered he was missing his gray coat as he was starting to take off his other clothes.
Oliver tore his gaze away and cleared his throat. "I'm gonna tell Thea to bring it when she comes home then." he said before he left the drunk man alone in the bedroom to go and text his sister and then he grabbed a glass of water and some pills for Barry's hangover when he woke up in the morning.
"You're so good to me." Barry basically moaned when Oliver entered his room again and put the water and the meds down on the night stand. The young CSI had already crawled under the covers and left a pile of clothes on the floor next to the bed. "And so handsome." Barry added and bit his lip while he looked the archer up and down.
Oliver was shaking his head again. "And you're just very drunk." he said in reply as his lips twitched into a smile. "Good night, Barry." he added and was just about to leave the room when Barry reached out and grabbed his hand.
"No. Stay. Please. Just a little while until I fall asleep. I did save your life." The younger man was blinking with his eyelashes and made a sad pout while he was begging.
Oliver sighed loudly because did Barry really have to use that against him as some sort of blackmail to stay with him until he falls asleep. "Fine." he said with a sigh and was shaking his head again. Then he took off his suit-jacket, removed his tie, flipped a few buttons in his white shirt underneath and carefully sat down against the headboard next to the younger man.
"Thank you." Barry slurred and reached for Oliver's hand again and tucked it in between his soft cheek and the pillow. A warm chuckle escaped Oliver's lips and somehow he found himself starting to run his fingers through Barry's soft brown hair with his free hand. "Mmm, Ollie... that feels nice...you're sooo good to me." The drunk man was still slurring a little.
"You did save my life as you pointed out and made my mask. I guess I owe you even if you drive me crazy most of the time." Oliver said. He felt safe admitting this since Barry was probably not gonna remember any of this conversation in the morning. Hopefully not.
Barry chuckled softly and released Oliver's hand as he was searching his blue gaze. "I thought you hated me and took pity on me."
Oliver felt a sting of pain over Barry's words. If I only did hate you. It would've been so much easier. He sighed out loud. "Barry, I could never hate you." Then the younger man pulled Oliver down so he was lying next to him, facing him.
"Do something to prove it." Barry said with a raised eyebrow and the archer couldn't help but chuckle. Then he gently brushed his fingertips against Barry's soft flushed cheek.
"I'm in your bed, Barry... what more proof do you need?" Oliver knew he shouldn't have asked that question. I'm tempting fate right now.
"Kiss me." Barry sighed and closed his eyes. Oliver was very tempted, but the younger man was drunk. It was not a good idea. Despite how inviting and soft his lips looked. "Please, Ollie. Just one tiny little kiss. I might not even remember it in the morning." The young scientist was basically begging and Oliver just sighed while shaking his head once more because those green eyes looked at him in such a longing way. I couldn't even remember the last time someone looked at me like that.
Oliver sighed as he moved a bit closer even if they were already lying pretty close. "One. Little. Kiss. But you can never tell anyone if you remember this and you and I will never speak of this again." he clarified and Barry just nodded before he closed his eyes.
Oliver allowed his hand to stay against Barry's blushing cheek while he brought his other hand up to the younger man's chin tenderly before he leaned in and placed a soft peck on those pink lips. Then he closed his eyes too and Barry slipped his hand around the back of Oliver's neck as the archer was slowly tasting those soft lips. A warm feeling spread through his entire body and suddenly he found himself adding his tongue which made Barry moan softly.
"Such a good kisser..." Barry sighed with a soft chuckle when their lips parted. "That was the best first kiss I've ever had... " he continued and had to bite his lip as the taste of Oliver's rougher lips was still making his swollen lips tingle. "...Cause I've never kissed the girl I like back home." he revealed and Oliver couldn't help but chuckle.
"Why? You're not a bad kisser yourself and she'd be very lucky to have you." The archer said with his heart threatening to jump out of his chest. A smile spread across Barry's face and he was just about to kiss Oliver again when the front door was opened.
"Ollie, I'm home." Thea called out from the hallway.
"Oh shit. My sister can't find me in your bed and if I leave your bedroom now she'll see me leaving the room." Oliver whispered and tried to pull up the covers to shield himself even if Thea hadn't noticed the lights from the guest room.
All Barry did was quietly laughing. "Okay. Let's pretend we're asleep." the dorky scientist said and shushed them both and turned out the lights so it would look like he was fast asleep. Oliver watched Barry as he closed his eyes shut really hard so he got a cute crinkle between his eyebrows. A smile crossed Oliver's lips and he brushed his fingers gently across the younger man's cheek again because he had already drifted off. I am not going soft for the obnoxious Barry Allen. There's no way. But no matter what Oliver told himself he was going soft for his fanboy and soon enough he'd fallen asleep too.
Thea peeked into her brother's room only to find it empty. That wasn't unusual by any means, but she had seen Diggle driving her brother and their house guest home earlier and Oliver had texted her about Barry's forgotten jacket when they got back. Which just made her curious since she'd listened to Felicity joking about Barry having feelings for her brother the whole night at the club so she decided to check his guest room. And her intuition was correct. She found her brother asleep with Barry cuddled up in his arms. She couldn't help but find them adorable. Maybe a guy was exactly what Oliver needed. They looked so peaceful sleeping in each other's arms. She slowly closed the door again and headed upstairs to her room, but she decided to cover for her brother and make it look like he was sleeping by organizing some pillows.
When Oliver woke up the following morning he noticed Barry gazing at him as the sunlight slipped into the room. But he was dressed and he was sitting up and he didn't look completely hungover.
"Good morning." The younger man said as his entire face seemed to lit up. It caused Oliver to smile too.
"Good morning you too, but shouldn't you be at work?" Oliver asked while he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and stretched his arms. "You know for your first day?" he added a second question before a smile crossed his lips and he straightened himself on the bed and sat up next to the other man.
"I know and I'm about to go. But I'm not the kind of guy who sleeps with someone and runs out before they wake up." Barry responded with a big smile on his face.
The comment caused Oliver's cheeks to flush red. "Don't you dare tell anyone that because to other ears that just sounds like we hooked up. Which we most definitely didn't!" he warned and Barry nodded because the threatening vigilante was rather intimidating.
"But we did kiss..." The younger man said without meeting Oliver's blue gaze. I'm surprised I remember that considering how drunk I was last night, but that fantastic kiss must've sobered me up. His cheeks flushed red.
"We weren't supposed to talk about that again, remember?" The archer was quick to remind him.
"But I got drunk and Oliver Queen kissed me. I wanna brag about that." Barry sounded way too happy saying that which caused Oliver to sigh loudly while he rolled out of bed.
"Get to work. And if you tell anyone about that kiss I will punish you." Oliver warned the dorky scientist, but ended up bumping into Thea as soon as he had picked up his jacket and left Barry's room.
"You two kissed?" The sister exclaimed with a gasp before she clasped her hands over her mouth.
Barry grinned proudly while walking past the blushing archer and his sister. "And what if you tell anyone?" he wondered smugly. Oliver didn't reply, all he could do was blush.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone either. Good thing mom already left for work and didn't hear you guys sneak in last night." Thea said with a chuckle. "And Ollie, maybe another guy is exactly what you need. Ever thought about why all your relationships with women fail? Maybe you're subconsciously into tall, dark nerds." she suggested which made her brother blush harder and Barry's cheeks flushed red too.
After the awkward morning all three went to their separate workplaces.Later that day Barry got a text while being in his new lab.
Oliver: Hi, would you like to get some dinner with me tonight? Maybe catch a movie afterwards?
Barry smiled while he read the text before he replied. Barry: Like a date?
Oliver felt his cheeks flushed red before he sent his reply. Maybe.
Barry grinned even more at the one word on the screen. Has anyone ever actually said no to a date with you?
Oliver sighed, but he couldn't keep the smile from spreading on his face.
Are you saying no? Because if so, you know I have a pretty good aim with a bow and arrow.Barry gasped reading the text and looked around his empty lab so no one would arrive when he was texting instead of working.
Is the Arrow threatening me into a date? If so I'll have to say no because I'm practically a cop so I shouldn't be dating a vigilante.Oliver was quick to respond after reading the teasing text.
You begged me for a kiss so now I'll just beg until you say yes and let me take you on a proper, secret date.Barry smiled and blushed as he read the words on the screen.
Okay. But only one date and then we'll never mention it again. Just like that kiss 😘Oliver chuckled softly and looked around his office hoping no one would waltz in before he sent a final text.
Oliver: If you're on time and not drunk you might get another kiss 😘Barry's cheeks flushed more red reading that and smiled as he typed in a last text.
Barry: I'm gonna hold you to that promise, Mr Queen. See you tonight.Oliver smiled reading Barry's text, but decided to stop chatting and continue their flirting face to face tonight instead. I can't believe I asked Barry Allen on a date.
"Did you do it? Did you finally ask Barry out?" Felicity asked as she walked into Oliver's office and based on the blush on the archer's face and his smile he had just asked Barry out. He nodded slowly and Felicity grinned. "Never tell him that I told you that he wouldn't be opposed to dating you." she said.Hope you enjoyed this little story. I'll try to write a few new one shots this summer.
