Due to a snowstorm Barry found himself stuck in Starling City after saving Oliver's life because all the trains were cancelled.
The weather also affected Central City and prevented Harrison Wells from turning on the particle accelerator, so Barry wasn't going to miss much.
The good news was that the Queen Mansion had enough space so Barry was offered a room by Moira and got to spend Christmas with his crush.
The night before Christmas Eve Barry couldn't fall asleep because of the howling wind outside.
He decided to sneak down to the grand kitchen of the Queen Mansion to get a cup of hot chocolate.
It appeared someone else had had the same idea. Barry saw a light coming from the kitchen and found Oliver leaning against the counter with a green and golden Christmas mug in his hand. He was dressed in a green t-shirt and dark blue sweatpants.
"Couldn't sleep either?" Barry wondered as he entered the kitchen, wearing an oversized shirt and old pajama pants that he had gotten to borrow.
"I haven't slept a whole night in ages." Oliver responded with a sigh and opened a cabinet to give Barry a red Christmas mug.
"Because of the whole vigilante business?" Barry asked with curiosity, but quickly tossed a glance over his shoulder to make sure no one was coming. Even if it was the middle of the night.
"Partly. I just can't relax anymore. Not since the island." Oliver replied while Barry filled his mug with the cocoa from the fancy coffee maker.
"I get it. Kind of. Not the alone on an island part. But after my mom died I couldn't sleep either because of the nightmares." Barry said and seated himself on the kitchen counter Oliver was leaning against.
The archer gave Barry an odd look that made him blush while he took a sip of the hot fluid. It was warm and had a distinctive taste of cinnamon.
"Sorry about my initial reaction about you. It's not easy for me to trust people after everything I had to face." Oliver explained and looked away.
"Well, I did lie about why I was here so I'm sorry. I just couldn't admit the real reason because you'd think I'm some sort of creep." Barry rambled and let out a nervous chuckle and took another sip of the hot beverage.
"To solve a mysterious break-in wasn't true either? Now I really need to know what brought you here." Oliver said as a smile twitched at the corners of his lips.
A hot wave washed over Barry because he couldn't recall that Oliver had smiled at him before.
"No, you really don't." Barry murmured without looking at his crush.
"Come on, you know my secret, now tell me yours." Oliver lowered his voice and nudged Barry's leg with his elbow.
The deep tone made him sound like the vigilante, which caused Barry's heart to race.
"I was hoping to meet the mysterious Vigilante while I was here because I've always thought that maybe someone like him could've caught the man who killed my mother," Barry explained quietly without looking at Oliver. He felt mortified and hoped that the archer wouldn't hate him.
"I know, it's embarrassing and creepy to look up to someone who repeatedly breaks the law when I'm working for the police. Anyway, that's my secret. I wanted to meet you." Barry proceeded with a low voice and took a large sip of his cocoa during the silence that passed. He couldn't even appreciate the tasty chocolate anymore.
"That's not creepy," Oliver pointed out reassuringly while he put his empty cup down. Then he brushed his fingers against Barry's free hand that was resting on the counter between them.
"Not even my team mates look up to me. It means a lot to hear that someone does." Oliver proceeded while Barry went speechless. He was stunned. He was in his crush Oliver Queen's home for Christmas and the very same guy was now practically holding his hand.
"You don't find it creepy that I actually came here to meet you, saved your life, left you a mask for Christmas because I thought I was leaving and now you're snowed in with me?" Barry asked and Oliver chuckled. Actually chuckled in a way that made his dimples show. It caused Barry's heart to skip a beat.
"No, I like having a groupie around for Christmas." Oliver responded teasingly with the smile still on his face and Barry's cheeks flushed bright red over the words.
"I'm not your groupie!" His voice was higher than usual.
"Whatever you say, Barry." Oliver scoffed and walked out of the kitchen. Barry felt offended and placed his cup on the sink and hurried after his crush.
"I'm not an over excited fangirl who follows you around in hopes of having sex with you." Barry whispered angrily in the huge, Christmas decorated lobby.
"Aside from the girl part it sounds pretty accurate." Oliver replied with amusement and a hint of fondness in his voice as he grabbed Barry's hand.
"What are you doing?" Barry panicked when his crush was suddenly intertwining their fingers.
"I'm saying good night before I'm going back to bed." Oliver said softly when Barry took a step back in surprise.
It felt like Oliver was hitting on him all of a sudden, but that couldn't be right. Hot, former playboys who are billionaires by day and saves the city by night doesn't flirt with science dorks like me, Barry thought.
"Alright, good night." Barry said and turned around in the direction of the stairs to head up to the guest room.
"Barry?" Oliver's voice was low and seductive when Barry turned to face him again.
"We're standing under a mistletoe," the archer pointed out and Barry looked up and noticed a mistletoe dripping down from the entrance to the living room.
Barry hadn't even realized they'd been moving towards the grand main room downstairs.
"Will you let me kiss you good night?" Oliver asked and all Barry could do was to nod. Then he was pulled close and Oliver pressed his rough, yet gentle lips against Barry's. It caused him to freeze for a second as he allowed Oliver to part his lips slowly and eagerly with his warm tongue. A sweet taste of chocolate and cinnamon was still fresh on Oliver's lips.
Eventually Barry relaxed and tossed his arms around Oliver's neck and returned the first kiss just before their lips parted.
"Good night, Barry." Oliver whispered before he headed upstairs and left Barry standing in the lobby surprised and dizzy. Oliver Queen just kissed me, he thought and smiled to himself before he headed upstairs as well to enter the guest room and crawl back into bed.
Maybe my Christmas wish will finally come true this year? That my bad luck with unrequited love finally turns around. Lost in his happy thoughts about the kiss, Barry managed to fall asleep with a smile on his face.
