Chapter Seven: Back Of His Past

"Where are you?" the twenty three year old man, Eret, asked to himself softly out into the wind. His eyes wandered around the view of the town like he was trying to find a needle in a haystack. "I'm getting so worried." He clasped both of his calloused hands together as he leaned forward at the railing.  He sighed softly, closing his eyes at the exact moment and overlooked the view again.

He was so worried for her. So much worried that he wasn't thinking straight today. He called in sick today at his work and while his friends are trying to cheer him up, he just goes and look for her. They all know it wasn't like him to miss out work, hang out with his friends. But he was struggling to not to. He was struggling to not just go into oblivion and just try to find her.

An auburn brown hair guy leaned up the railing of the same position he did after a couple of moments of him being silent. Eret didn't need to turn his head to confirm his guess, he just...knows. Hiccup stayed silent after a minute.

"A woman in distress," he huffed out of air. "And the knight has to save her." Eret blinked a couple of times and still didn't reply to him. "The knight not knowing the girl was either harmed or safe, he was worried." He get it. He was narrating of what he felt now.

"But he's got to have faith and hope," Hiccup continued. "Without it, he would never found her."

Eret snorted. "What?" he asked. "Just have faith and hope would make everything better." He blankly stared at the guy who's one year older than him and shook his head. "I had faith and hope but that was gone when I found out what kind of family I had."

Hiccup could see the emotions that ran across Eret. He was never that fond of him because of his bloodline but he is one of his best buddies.

No one ever knew the past of Eret Khooligan. Sure he was the brother of Jordan, the one who caused all of this mess but they never knew of what he was like. Probably because they never asked him, even Merida. They were too worried to trigger any of his emotions because of his bloodline. Eret, on the other hand, hated being a Khooligan. His family for generations only love money and it will always be money. He hated money for the truth. He hated how greedy his whole branch of family is.

He hated all of it.

But when the girls and boys came which were his friends, they were the one who helped him escape. The one who helped him set free from the dungeon he was trapped in by his family. The one who helped him nearly defeat his own menacing brother. The one who he owes a lot.

"You guys are my family," Eret stated to Hiccup. "And Merida is a big part of my life. If anything happened bad to her, I'm not going to forgive myself at all."

Hiccup gave a puff of air, knowing what he felt like. It was the same thing for him and Astrid. When Astrid left that party one night when he accidentally kissed Tiara, he was worried of where she went. She just ran away with no traces, whatsoever. That, of course, made him worry a lot.

Hiccup turned back to the view of the town. "Know what you mean," he said after a moment which made Eret's head turn back to him but Hiccup didn't return the gaze. "I wouldn't even let myself live if something bad happens to Astrid and to you guys."

"Well, that's kind of harsh," he shrugged, leaning backwards on the railing and looked at the park behind them.

The green eyes guy chuckled. "That's what happens when you're in love," he stated and smiled softly. He then looked at his friend. "Aren't you in love with Merida?"

He skipped a heartbeat when he asked that question. He didn't answer for a moment. It wasn't that he wasn't in love with her, he was just....kind of. He doesn't even know what he feels for her. Like or love?
