Chapter Ten: Backstory
Hiccup didn't know why his father summoned him into their penthouse. He's never been into his parents' penthouse because of them trying to hide all these years from people trying to capture their billion dollars. He didn't even know they have multi billionaire companies that is the most richest person in the world. He always knew there was something peculiar with his parents that wasn't adding up.
First their constant need of checking him if there was anything wrong with him and how much worries they put on him. Second was how much they spend their time doing work, how stressed they were about these big words he have never heard of. And last of how he saw they were kind of forcing him to be friends with their accompanies such as the Hoffersons. Not to be rude or anything, it wasn't that he didn't like it, (he loved the fact that he became friends with Astrid) it was the fact that his parents was acting weird before.
But now he get their every worries, their stresses and how it changes the person. Of course, if you have an heir, you have to be careful with the child especially if someone is trying to track you down for your money and the child would be an absolute target. He gets the stresses and the word problems, trying to uplift his company and trying to survive this chaos. He also learns that he should always be in tact with his colleagues such as Merida, Eugene, Rapunzel and the rest because they are all in this together (A/N: WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER! XD). They are supposed to be the top nine people that are the most richest yet they also have to be secretive about it.
Clearing his throat and adjusting his daily clothes, such as a tux in this day, he knocked formally on the door. He heard a 'come in' from his very well known father's voice and opened the door. "You wanted to see me?" he started a conversation.
He looked around at the study room and saw all around the walls were bookshelves full of, of course, books. So many books, it was like a library. In the middle was his father's desk where his papers lay all around and a lamp for the room to have light. On the east side of the room was an arched window, letting the sunlight seep in. Behind the desk was a big painting hung up the wall. It wasn't a painting though, it was the Haddock family tree.
Stoick Haddock looked up from his paperwork to his son who has gotten more grown up, more mature and even good with the ladies if he says so himself. "Yes, Hiccup, son," he nodded. "I want to talk to you about your ancestors."
Hiccup raised an eyebrow of what his father just said. Why does he want to talk about his ancestors? Wasn't the reason of him coming to his father because of their business instead of their ancestors? "M-My ancestors?" he asked, placing a hand on his chest as he spoke softly. "What about them? I thought we were going to talk about-"
"The business?" Stoick finished for him. "We kind of are and your ancestors are the reason we have this company. They built it all from nothing and here we are now. So we owe it to them." Hiccup could understand the conversation but doesn't have a clue why he's talking about this now. "Do you know who you're named after?" his burly father asked.
"I'm guessing the second person who had the name and that guy was named after the first one?" he guessed and shrugged. He was surprised that three generations on his family is named Hiccup. After all, he is the third Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, he isn't the only one.
Stoick chuckled at his humour. "You are named after your great-great-great and many more great grandfather, back in the viking days, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the second," he stated. "He was a very great chief to his village, the best one in fact." Stoick stood up from his wooden chair. "Come with me son." He motioned a hand to his son and walked over to the family tree behind him.
Hiccup obliged to his father and walked to his father. Stoick then surprisingly lifted the painting up and there was a door behind it. Hiccup widened his eyes at the secret door hidden behind it. His father opened the door and they went in a dim room where there were portraits of people that looked familiar. The curtains were spread wide open, letting another arched window let sunlight seep through the room. Hiccup widened his eyes as he saw clearly the portraits.
