I rubbed, washed and boiled Detective's cotton tissue until it looked brand new. Stitched back a part of the lace edge that was coming off. Sprayed just a bit of my lavender perfume. I could only pray mr. Ackerman was going to like it. He seemed like a moody man.

I stopped by the Hotel first thing in the morning. Historia greeted me with a smile.

"Y/N! I've heard what happened last night. What an appalling incident. Are you and Sasha fine? Ymir made sure that guy was banished from our establishment".

"The city's guest, detective Ackerman, saved us. Well, he beat the guy until he was out. It was a bit shocking".

"Quite shocking. He's an interesting character, isn't he?"

"Guess it's a detective thing. By the way, I'm here to return his tissue. He used it to clean blood off his hands and I took it home to get it cleaned before it stained".

"Oh, I'm afraid he's already at the factory, darling".

"In that case, could you lend me some paper and a pen? I'd like to leave him a thank-you message".

This Erwin Smith has some damn giant brows. He set up a second office so Hange and I could work on the case. It was clean and fancy. I could crack a smile, but when I see the pile of paperwork I'll have to go through, any possible happiness sink.

"Can I get some black tea around here?"

Hange sits before me, digging into the reports. Erwin calls another blonde young man to take my order. His name is Armin or something. It's his personal assistant, but doesn't complain when asked to boil some water.

"So, who was the deceased men?" I ask the factory owner.

"Reiner Braun and Bertholdt Hoover" Erwin tells us.

"Cause of death?"

"Suicide through poisoning".

"Easy access since this is a medicine factory".

"It couldn't be suicide. I knew them. I know all my employees".

All owners and company headmans like to think they treat their employees so humanly they know their private lives. But they don't. This could really be cases of suicide.

"I know this is connected with the hole I've found in the budget" Erwin continues, sure of himself. "At this point, I can't trust any of my shareholders".

"We'll go through budgets again, sir" Hange says, glasses on, taking notes of the names Erwin gave us.

Might take longer than expected.

I leave school after cleaning the classroom, not wanting to be late as my mother told me my sister and her husband were coming home to have dinner with us. I give Sasha a quick wave in my way. Connie is with her, helping disassemble her vegetables stand.

When I get home, my sister and brother-in-law are already sitting in the living room, waiting for dinner.

"Julia!" I say, giving my sister a hug. "How are you, Armin?"

Armin Arlert is a sweet, smart and handsome guy. Julia and I have known him since we were kids, but he's always been quiet and shy. It took him years to confess his feelings for my sister. Now that he's a grown up, he's more confident. Even makes jokes to my father, who he used to be scared of, though father is harmless.

"I met the detectives today. They're gonna be the topic in town for the next few weeks, for sure".

"For sure. Have you heard how detective Ackerman saved Sasha and I yesterday night?"
