[Apparently is canon that if Levi had a crush he'd stutter <3 if it isn't canon, well, too late, I think it goes well with his personality]

Things take some time to get to me. I feel like my brain is slow to process some sort of things. Like how I left Y/N's house not thinking much of it and then spent the rest of the night exclusively thinking about it.

Only when I was alone in my hotel room, getting my book to finish reading it, that I remember her saying it's her favorite. In the final chapter there's a kiss scene. And love confessions.

I imagine her reading this. She looked beautiful that evening. She also looked pretty the night she danced around with that weird friend of hers.

As I make my way with Hange to the factory, I realize she was in my mind a lot lately.

I feel a hand gently touching my back. I turn around irritated. I hate being touched. But a comforting voice says:

"Good morning, Levi".

I get a tingle in my brain hearing her say my name. "M-morning, miss L/N. I mean, it's a nice morning, I guess. Well".

She gives me a confused look. My face probably looks the same, but I never stutter at anyone. Hange also stares at me. Hell, no. I clean my throat and recompose.

"What brings you here?"

"You asked me to investigate in Rose. I have some information. Some twisted information. Also, if I can call you by your first name, you should do the same and just call me Y/N".

"Let's get to it then".

I have Y/N sit down in front of me while Hange stays up to write her testimony.

"And then she says she has no idea who Reiner Braun is! Unfortunately, I was so confused that I didn't get her to say anything else about it. But when I went to Bertholdt's house, or should I say, Oluo Bozado's household, I acted better and got a lot of information".

She continues to tell us about this guy's payment being triple the regular one and how fancy both houses were. And how they also got a payment for compensation after his death, which Hange and I didn't find anywhere in the financial books.

"We need to interrogate Erwin about this" I say.

Someone knocks on the door and proceeds to come in. That blonde Armin has something on his hand. "Letter for you, mr. Ackerman".

Hange runs and gets it before I can even stand up. Armin leaves the room without saying another word. I like how professional he is.

"It's from Farlan!" Hange says, reading the envelope.

"Why would he write to me? We've been here barely a week ago".

"Maybe it's an emergency".

I open it quickly, afraid something might be wrong with Isabel. As I read through, I feel Y/N staring at me, unsure what to do. I don't feel comfortable telling Hange what it says with her here. Being the gentle lady she is, Y/N says:

"I should leave you two to it. I also have classes soon". She walks to the door. "If you need anything else, let me know".

"Bye bye, sweetie!" Hange says.

When she's far gone I realize I didn't even thank her for the information she brought in. I'd have to think about it later.

"Kenny is in jail". I say to Hange.

"Again?"

"Tch. Shitty old man". I think for a second. Then rip the letter in tiny pieces. "Fuck him" I spit out.

"You're not helping him?"

"I already helped too much. Maybe he can learn something if he actually stays imprisoned for some days".

"You should at least write back. Isabel could get soft on him and pay for the bailout".

"She wouldn't have the money". I take our notes on the case and look at the names we were given on who the dead guys really were. "This is a mess".

Hange comes to my side. "Such a mess, just like you were today. Can we now talk about how you stuttered at Y/N?"

"Shut up, four eyes".

"Joke's on you, you're also wearing glasses!"

"Tch".

— — —

I go home after my classes, tired from not having the weekend to rest. On the way I buy ice cream for me and Sasha, but we don't talk too much, since she's also tired and yawning. I should give her a good present for working on a Sunday for me.

While walking, I think about Levi sounding confused when I came by. I hold back my laughter. It was funny seeing someone as serious as him stuttering his words. Maybe he was focused on something else and I scared him.

When I walk home, mother shoves a flower bouquet in my face.

"Someone sent this for you!"

I get back to take a look at it. There are yellow roses and red poinsettias. It was beautiful, but...

"Ew, please tell me it isn't from Dot Pyxis".

"Just open the card!"

I flip the envelope and see written:

From L.A. To Y/N L/N.

My mind goes back to the time I held his tissue in my hands and saw his monogram. My heart starts racing. He sent me this? I open the letter, walking away from my nosy mother.

Y/N,

I'm sorry for not having the time to congratulate you on your work.

I hope it's not too antiquated to send you flowers to express my gratitude.

Levi

I smile widely at it. His handwriting is delicate, almost feminine. My mother stares at me "Is it from that detective, huh? Is he courting you, Y/N? Please tell me!"

"No, mother, it was purely professional".

I go to my room, flowers in hand. I place them in a big jar and put it down close to my vanity mirror. I smell them closely, breathing slowly. I read the letter over and over, though it is short and straightforward. Still, I think it's sweet that he realized he didn't pay much attention to what I did and have this sent. He's more gentle than he looks.

I'd like to add his initial to my monogram [...]

Although he may not be the man some

Girls think of as handsome

To my heart he carries the key
