First thing in the morning is for me to write to Farlan and Isabel about our weekend at home. I usually don't give them heads up when I'm coming back home, but I want the place to be in perfect condition. They are usually as organized as I am, I can't complain, but this time I need something different.
Our house isn't big, although it has three rooms so we don't have to share. There's nothing about it to impress Y/N, not even a great garden or balconies. I want it to feel cozy and I'm sure Isabel could make it happen.
I need this done because I feel that everything about Y/N is cozy: the way she would give me a new cravat, although it's not even in fashion anymore, and embroidery tissues; how she baked a cake and made the perfect tea just to have me over. How she's put together a picnic for us and carress my hair so gently I don't want to leave. She really has her ways in making people feel at ease.
I want to make sure she can be happy with me.
Hange comes in a few minutes later to knock on my room's door. I know it's her because she'll bump her head on any door, assuming it's open before trying the knob. I get up and unlock the door, stepping to the side.
"Come in".
I get back to my desk, just to write my name at the bottom of the letter. Hange follows me, walking happily as always.
"Morning, my little blue moon, are you ready to go?"
"I'll knock your glasses off your big nose in a second".
"I've been meaning to call you this for a long time. Thought it was worth trying since you're getting married to your dream girl and could be less horrible with me".
I ignore her and she gets curious about what I'm writing. Me and Hange have so little secrets between us that I don't mind and just show straight to her.
"I'm writing home so they'll be prepared to welcome Y/N".
"Oh, so you are telling them how the little blue moon is getting married to a piece of sunshine?"
Her smile drops when she reads it:
"Levi, this literally just says: I'll be home this weekend, everything better be in perfect order and clean. Make it cozy. With flowers and stuff. You'll be meeting my fianceé, so be in your best behaviour around her" Hange glances at me, taking her glasses off. "And that's it?"
"They'll know all the details when we are there".
"You didn't even say your fianceé's name".
"As I said. Details".
"Or where you met".
"I'm working at Maria, where else could I've met her?"
She scoffs, disapproving of me. I take my letter back. I personally think it gives all the information they need for now. Besides, I don't want them passing anything about Y/N on to Kenny. It's in my best interest to keep it secretive.
"Call Historia to have this letter sent. And let's get going, we need to interrogate the workers now".

We call in all managers, one by one, to have them questioned about Eld and Oluo, the true identities of the deceased man. The information we get is close to what we already knew: they lived in Rose and came by train everyday to work. They were one of the newest employees and nobody really had any proximity with them.
The only thing everyone heard them saying is how they were not going to stay long in this job.
We're half in the list when it's time to bring Annie Leonhart in. I never saw her up close before. Her expression is as unsympathetic as mine. She takes her seat and I begin with initial questions: her name, how long she's been working at this factory...
