thirty-three

Today is my last day of being twenty. I'm excited cause now I can actually go out to the bars with everyone.

And that's exactly what we're doing tomorrow. We're gonna go bar hopping so I couldn't wait.

It was ten pm and I was up in my room, writing a song. I had this melody stuck in my head so I wanted to get it out.

I was inspired by something Owen told me so I wrote it.

I play a couple chords of the melody while singing. I never was the best singer, or at least I thought so.

When I get done with it, it was pretty late. I didn't even realize it had been my birthday.

I text everyone back that I can and fall asleep. I was knocked out too.

Until I felt someone jump onto me. I bolt up to see Owen laying on top of me. He had a big ass smile on his face.

"Happy birthday!" He exclaimed as I groaned. He then pouted as he looked at me. "Owen, we're about to fight." I groan.

His face beams when he realized I wasn't actually mad at him. He rolled off of me so I can position myself better.

"How'd you sleep?" He asked making conversation. "Perfect until you woke me up." I joke with him.

He does his little nose scrunch that I love so much. He got off my bed and sat on my bench in front of my keyboard.

I watched him as he flipped through my songwriting journal. He stopped at my latest work.

I don't know why, but it gave me goosebumps watching him read through my stuff. I could tell he was reading through it because of his face.

Once he was done, he looked over at me. "This is really good." He admits to me. I smile as I sit up.

"Thanks, I was up late writing it." I explain. He glances at the paper and then looked at me.

"Will you play it?" He had hope in voice. I nodded as I got up from the bed. He scoots over so I could have room to sit.

I take a deep breath before playing. I do the intro for him. "You gave me a shoulder, when I needed it." I sing.

I wrote that line for when I was upset about leaving Maui. So to cheer me up, he had a Harry Potter marathon with me.

"You helped me fight, when I was giving in." That line was about him pushing me through the album when I was exhausted.

"And you made me laugh, when I was losing it." When I was freaking out about Dani, he made me laugh.

He brought me back to my senses. "Cause you are the reason why I'm still hanging on." I glance over at him.

He had a soft expression on his face. "Cause you are the reason why my head is still above water." I continue.

"And if I could, I'd get you the moon, and give it to you." I took that from when he told me that from our first date.

I've always loved that saying. "And if death is coming for you, I'd give my life for you." I really would too.

I'd rather something happen to me than to him. I sing the rest of it to him, finishing the song.

I was nervous to see his reaction, but I looked at him anyway. I basically put all my feelings about him in this song.

He was looking at me with a soft expression. "So, how'd you like it?" I shyly ask. He smiled over towards me.

"I loved it." He leaned over and kissed my temple. My door opened revealing my sister.

"We need the birthday girl downstairs." Oh no. I wonder what they have planned. I take a deep breath and stand up.
