the gym doors opened, revealing the pair that were two hours late to practice. almost instantly, seinaru's heterochromatic blue and hazel green eyes assessed the crowd.
there were two teams, one on each side of the court. one was a group of people she was familiar with- they were wearing white shirts, with red practice bibs with their numbers on them. inarizaki.
on the opposite side of the court, there was a group of people she doesn't recognize. they were wearing black shirts, with neon green practice bibs, which also had their numbers on them. the name of the school was unknown to her.
her eyes caught a pair of stoic, pitch black ones. the rest of his face was hidden by a clean, white facemask, so his curious, yet ostracizing eyes were prominent. they narrowed at the sight of her, which made her squint her eyes in confusion, before she looked away.
weird.
suna looked around the gym, until his lazy fox emerald eyes landed on confused golden brown ones.
"you're late." the captain, kita frowned upon seeing suna who had seinaru beside him.
"sorry. was preoccupied." was suna's short answer.
the piss-haired setter frowned when he caught sight of the middle blocker's sly smirk that was barely noticeable. but he couldn't speak up, ask or say anything about it because of the people that were around. his eyes darted towards his girlfriend who looked beyond exhausted.
his body moved on its own and he found himself cupping her cheeks as he looked at her in concern.
"did ya' get any sleep?" his golden brown eyes searched her tired heterochromatic blue and hazel green ones.
she blinked, "oh, no. i've been sleepless the entire week."
she held atsumu's warm hands that were on her face and gave him a reassuring smile. "don't worry about me. i'll be fine."
he pursed his lips before giving her a nod. he then ledher to a semi-secluded part of the gym where only a few people could see them.
"ya'know ya' shoulda' told me ya' needed ta' rest. i coulda' cancelled ye'r sched'le t'day." he whispered lowly in her ear so that only they could hear.
she frowned. "it's fine. it's my fault. i apologize for being late, by the way."
her eyes instinctively looked at suna who was now stretching as he prepared for the practice match. atsumu noticed this, and it made his stomach churn uncomfortably.
"i was out eating breakfast with suna-san." she quipped, unzipping her bag.
atsumu's stomach churned even more as a frown settled on his face. they were eating breakfast together? they were on that level of friendship already?
