Chapter 18 - The New Superman

June 6th Kent House 12:45
Lois was sitting in the front room holding the phone in her hand when Clark walked in the door, he went to the kitchen first and unpacked the shopping before sitting beside Lois.

"Why do you look worried" Clark asked

"I haven't heard from Jon in almost two months and it's his birthday" Lois replied

"Him and Damian are probably somewhere without service enjoying themselves, they needed to get away" Clark said

"I know I just miss him, and I have since he moved out" Lois stated

"I know, but that's only because you love him" Clark said wrapping an arm around her

"Have you thought anymore about what you were thinking the other day" Lois asked

"Well I have and I'm going to say it too him when he gets back and I think Smallville is calling us" Clark replied

"I do as well" Lois said kissing him

There was then a knock on the door

"I'll get it" Clark said

He got up and left Lois and opened the door, Lois then heard footsteps behind her

"Who is it Clark" Lois called

"You don't recognise your sons footsteps, I'm hurt" Jon said

"Jon" Lois exclaimed hugging him

"Okay Mom your choking me" Jon said

"You left for two months I have a right to do this" Lois stated

"Well I convinced Dami to come home for my birthday and the cabin was getting boring" Jon replied

"It was not" Damian stated

"Was too" Jon replied

"Well how was it" Clark asked

"It was fun and it was nice, it was like Smallville but not hot" Jon answered

"Speaking of Smallville" Lois stated

"What?" Jon asked

"Your mother and I are moving and I was wondering if you'd take over as Superman, I plan on hanging up the red cape" Clark replied

"Moving and me Superman" Jon said in shock

"Yeah" Lois said

"Why what's wrong with Metropolis" Jon asked

"Nothing it's just we always planned on going to Smallville at some stage" Lois replied

"Jon you can always fly or call them" Damian said

"I know it's just I don't understand" Jon stated

"Well I think my time in the red and blue is up but your time is only starting" Clark stated

"And the farm is just sitting there empty since your Grandma died so we are going to go live a more simple life away from the sound and stress of the city" Lois followed

"Well then there's nothing we can do to stop you" Jon said

"No" Clark replied

"Well then let's celebrate your birthday" Lois suggested

"Let's" Damian agreed

Lois had bought a cake a few days prior in the hope Jon would be home, they went to the kitchen and lit the candles and sang Happy Birthday before he blew out the candles. After eating cake and talking for a few hours Damian and Jon headed home and brought their bags inside before collapsing on the couch.

"You okay" Damian asked

"Yeah I never thought my parents would leave Metropolis and I always knew I'd be Superman, but not this soon" Jon replied

"One your going to be a great Superman and two what does it matter that your parents leave you can call, fly or boom tube" Damian said

"I know still I liked being close to them" Jon stated

"Well you'll survive, now do you want a new suit or are you fine with the black one" Damian asked

"The black one is fine for now because it matches yours" Jon answered

"Now let's get dinner and then we can celebrate your birthday properly" Damian said sitting on top of him and kissing him

"I like the sound of that" Jon replied kissing him back

"Now what do you want for dinner" Damian asked placing his hands on Jon's shoulders

"Pizza" Jon exclaimed

"I should have just guessed" Damian laughed

"You should have" Jon replied kissing him

"Now do you want certain toppings or surprise" Damian asked

"Surprise me babe" Jon replied

Damian got up off of Jon and ordered the pizza, they then waited for it to arrive. Once it arrived they sat on the couch and ate it beside each other.

"Now you go get ready while I clean up down here" Damian said

"Are you sure you don't want help" Jon asked

"Well if you really really want too, knock yourself out" Damian replied

"You could have said no" Jon exclaimed

"You could have not asked" Damian replied

"I was being nice" Jon said turning him around and grabbing his waist

"Like always, it's a curse and a blessing" Damian said kissing him

"I see it as a blessing" Jon stated

"Of course you would" Damian laughed

"What's that supposed to mean" Jon asked

"Nothing Boy Scout now let me go so I can clean up" Damian replied

"Already calling me Boy Scout" Jon exclaimed

"Well you are Superman now aren't you" Damian stated

"So I get all the nicknames too" Jon asked

"Unless you want new ones beloved" Damian replied

"Like what" Jon asked

"Baby Boy Scout since your Superman's son" Damian said trying not to laugh

"That was uncalled for Boy Wonder" Jon stated

"I don't agree, but your willing to take it up with me when the complaints department opens in the morning" Damian said

"What time is that" Jon asked

"Between 9:25am and 9:30am" Damian answered

"A five minute window, not very useful" Jon stated

"I don't like complaining" Damian replied

Damian cleaned up while Jon dried the dishes before heading upstairs to celebrate Jon's birthday. Afterwards Damian fell asleep on Jon's chest listening to the beating of the half kryptonian's heart, while Jon almost asleep gazed out the window thinking about what the future held for him and Damian. He also worried about not living up to the name of Superman but then looked down at Damian and had a moment of realisation that with Damian by his side anything was possible for both of them.
