I don't know why Marinette suggested I had a photoshoot, I didn't actually. I even checked with Natalie to make sure, but it wasn't like Marinette to lie. I was lying on my bed, trying to figure out what she had been talking about when I saw a figure go flying past my window. Bugaboo.
I quickly transformed, following her. She eventually landed, and leaned silently towards the edge of the building. She looked very deep in thought, and I landed beside her. Her head snapped around, and she shushed me.
I crouched beside her and asked, "Is it Hawkmoth?" She shook her head, and looked back over the edge. I followed her gaze to see.... Kelli. The new girl at school, standing with a bunch of friends. And Ladybug was snarling silently at them. I said, "Uh, bugaboo?"
She covered my mouth, and I saw all of them look up quickly. She pulled me over the edge of the building, and stood. She signaled for me to follow her, so I did. When we finally landed a few buildings away. She smacked me on the back of my head, "Nice going, Kitty. Now they know I was following them."
I crossed my arms, "You do realize they're just high schoolers, right?" She glanced behind her, and I saw Kelli standing on the roof we had just been on. That should have been impossible. Bugaboo grabbed my arm, pulling me behind her. We eventually landed at our school.
She said, "There's something off with that girl. And I'm trying to figure out if I should trust my gut, or if I'm just being a jealous psycho." I raised an eyebrow, "Jealous? Why would you be jealous?" She shifted, biting her lip. She eventually said, "She's basically perfect, smart, funny, pretty. And she easily got the guy I've been crushing on for a year and a half now. So, yeah. I'd be a bit jealous."
She paused, "But Tikki told me to trust my gut, get to know her, then figure out if it's jealousy or if she's actually bad news." I laughed, "You're really jealous of her, bugaboo?" She sighed and nodded. I said, "M'lady, you are perfect to me. More perfect than she could ever pray to be."
I kissed her hand, gently, and to my surprise she didn't yank it out. When I looked back up at her, her eyebrow was raised at me. She said, "Hm. I just don't know what she did to him." I pulled back, lowering her hand. I said, "Him?" She nodded, and started pacing, "It was like he stopped being able to think. He just nodded and agreed with whatever she said. It had to have something to do with physical contact."
She looked at me and said, "On a scale of one to ten, how attracted to me are you?" I widened my eyes, and almost reflexively said, "I'm head over heels for you, m'lady. I'd say a fifteen."
She scoffed, then paused. She mumbled, "Worth a shot." She walked over, slowly, and placed a hand on my shoulder. I immediately felt the urge to blush come over me as she looked deep in my eyes. She said, "Kitty?" I stuttered, "Y-Yes, m'lady?" She leaned closer to my face and said, "Tell me your identity, kitty."
I widened my eyes, flinching back, "Um, what?" She lowered her hand, and the weird thing passed. She said, "You said no." I held up my hands, "Now, wait. I didn't say no. I just said what, because I'd be more than willing to share it with you. I just wanted to make sure you were serious."
She shook her head, "Don't be stupid. I was testing something." I crossed my arms, "Can the super flirty Bugaboo come back? I was enjoying that." She poked my chest, "Point is, you still had the ability to coherently think, right?" I shrugged, "Kind of. It was a little hard staring into your perfect blue eyes."
She waved a dismissive hand at me and said, "But you still clarified what I said. I could see it in your eyes. You were dazed, but not so dazed you couldn't think for yourself. And we've been partners for months. She did something weird to him."
She started pacing, "I've got to make sure she can't get him alone, because that's clearly what she wants. I knew there was something weird about her." I crossed my arms, "You're acting a bit jealous, bugaboo. Are you sure this guy doesn't just really like her?" She paused, her face falling, "You're right."
She stopped pacing, crossing her arms, "I'm probably just jealous." She looked at me and said, "But there's a possibility she's going to hurt him. And I can't ever let that happen."
She leaped off the building without another word.
