It was 20 minutes after they went to the bathroom that Alya said, "I should probably check on them." I nodded, agreeing. I still felt really dazed after I had been sitting with Kelli for the past hour. It was hard to explain, but part of me just really wanted to be alone with her. But, something even weirder had happened when Marinette touched my arm.
An even bigger part of me wanted to be alone with her. More than I wanted to be alone with Kelli, and now, I had the ability to do so. Alya opened the bathroom, and then screamed. I stood up, and ran behind her. And saw Marinette lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Gold dust littered the ground all around her, and Kelli was nowhere to be seen.
I immediately ran to her, pulling her into my arms. Her shirt was ripped over her ribs, blood dripping from the wound. Her head was bloody, and so was her back. Her chest shakily moved and I immediately knew she was barely clinging onto life.
I had to get her to a hospital. I lowered her to the ground, and said, "I'm going to go get help. Stay with her." Alya nodded, grabbing her arms and muttering, "Come on, girl, we're getting you some help."
The second I left the school, I hid and transformed. I swung into the bathroom, and found our other classmates crowding her. I held up my hands and shouted, "Back UP!" They all stumbled over their feet to get out of the way, and I pulled Marinette into my arms.
Her eyes slowly blinked open, and she said, "W-What happened? W-Where's Kelli?" I shook my head, "I'm getting you help, Princess. We've got to go now, though." She nodded, putting her arms around my neck. She laid her head against my chest, and I carefully leapt out of the window.
I swung her across town, and on one roof. She winced and cried out in pain. I immediately stopped and said, "What's wrong, Princess?" She whimpered, "M-My head hurts." I felt behind her ponytails and my hand came back red. I said, "I know, I know. We're almost there, okay?"
She nodded, still whimpering and I continued to leap across building after building, finally landing on the hospital roof. She rolled out of my arms, and I said, "Princess!" She struggled to her feet, and leaned heavily against my shoulder. She said, "It makes sense now." I raised an eyebrow, "Um, what?"
Before she could answer, Kelli's voice shrieked, "I wasn't finished with you, Half Breed!" I whirled, and saw her outfit half shredded, and she had vibrant red eyes. I stumbled back, and Marinette stood wobbly on her feet, holding her fists in front of her, "You're only getting him over my dead body."
She snarled, "I would be happy to arrange both. Now, you first." Marinette shifted and said, "Before you kill me, I have a couple questions." I stood in front of her, but she shook her head. She pushed me behind her and Kelli said, "Why would I answer your questions?"
Marinette nearly fell, but she held herself upright somehow, "Because I'm gonna die anyways. I'm a demigod. Curiosity is in my blood." Kelli snarled, pacing, "Fine. Only 2." Marinette nodded, glancing back at me. I could see that she had a plan. Somehow.
She said, "First. You're an empousa. That's basically a vampire, right?" Kelli snarled, nodding. Marinette shifted, and grabbed my shoulder. I could tell that she was barely standing. She said, "So, you're an ancient greek monster devoted to devouring male demigods, not female demigods and your patron is Hecate, right?"
Kelli froze, and looked at her in confusion, "You're smarter than I gave you credit, half breed. And yes, my patron is Hecate." Marinette looked back at me, and said, her eyes meeting mine, "Well, I've been blessed by the goddess Hecate, and she won't be happy to know you are trying to kill me."
Kelli paused, "You're bluffing." Marinette turned back to her, and I felt her hand lace in mine. She said, "Unless you surrender, I am going to turn you to ash." I widened my eyes, knowing what she was doing. I decided to help her, "Oh no, not your magic powers!" Kelli flicked her gaze, nervously, between me and Marinette.
She said, "You're bluffing." Marinette shook her head, and said, "I'm going to count down from 10, Kelli. Surrender and I will not harm you." I slowly backed up, towards the edge of the building, "Do not harm me, oh great and powerful one."
I had to be in place when she wanted me to cataclysm Kelli. Kelli shifted, lowering to the ground as I leapt off the building. I heard her say, "Fight me, half blood. No magic." I silently swung around the building, quietly calling my cataclysm.
I leapt up the building, and prepared to hit her, but she was nothing but gold dust. Marinette was holding her hands out and looked at me. She said, "She was running at me, I had no choice." I held my cataclysm and said, "Did I read this situation wrong?" She shook her head, shaking.
I put her arm over my shoulders, and she said, "I planned on getting her to go away and you cataclysm her, but she scared me and ran at me. She wasn't planning on playing by the rules. Somehow these skeletons grabbed her and they all vanished. I think they killed her." I lifted her into my arms, and said, "Let's get you to the hospital."
