After an awkward car ride, where both Calum and Jess refused to talk about the "almost kiss" that happened minutes before, they had arrived to a club.
Jess had sat down at the bar, Cal following her lead, both silent for a while.
"Okay, Calum," Jess said, looking around the bar until she spotted her target. "You see that blonde girl? That's the girl you're gonna be flirting with tonight, the goal is to get her number." He looked over to see the girl Jess was talking about, a simple girl who was seated alone with her drink. Turning to Jess, he nodded before getting up and walking over to the blonde, sitting next to her.
"Hi, what's up?" He said, looking at the girl, who turned to him and smiled.
"Hey, nothing much, I guess. I'm Mary, what's your name?"
"Cal." He mentally prepared himself to start flirting, but was cut off when she began to speak again.
"So, what's going on with you and that girl?" Mary said, motioning her head over to Jess, who was sitting by herself on her phone. "I mean, why did you come over here when your obviously in love with her?"
"I'm not in love with her, what makes you think that." Calum said, trying to stop himself from turning red.
"Well, anyone can see that you're head over heels for her, though I'm guessing she's completely oblivious. Let me guess, she's trying to get you, her single best friend, a girlfriend."
"It's complicated." Calum said, sighing and calling over the bartender to order a drink. " She thinks I'm in love with someone else, and she decided that she would help me get that girl. Right now, she's trying to teach me how to flirt, and I'm supposed to get your number." Mary laughed, putting her hand on Cal's shoulder, patting it lightly.
"Man, that sucks." She picked up her purse, rummaging and finding a small piece of paper and a pen. Writing something on it, she gave it to Calum, who was confused. "Here's my number, now you can leave this shitty bar and think about how you're gonna tell her you love her. I'm not expecting you to use it, but hey, if you need advice or help feel free to call." Mary got up, walking out of the bar, and Cal returned to his seat next to Jess.
"So, I got her number, lets go." Jess turned to him, giving him quick hug.
"Good job! Now when the time comes, you'll be able to flirt with 'mystery girl' and sweep her off her feet."
"Yep, she won't be expecting it. I'll be the Prince Charming she's been waiting for."
