When Jess woke up in her bunk the morning after the party, a sense of dread washed over her. She didn't know exactly what she had done, but in the back of her mind there was a voice telling her that she fucked up. After checking her phone and realizing it was almost noon, she got up and got ready. Gabi was no where to be found, so Jess figured she was already at the venue, and walked there. Entering the room backstage, she found Cal and Gabi having a serious discussion, which they stopped when they heard her open the door. They both looked awkward, as if caught doing something they shouldn't have done, but soon enough Gabi left the room, yelling out to Calum to do what they had discussed. Jess was confused, looking to him for some sort of answer, the tension from a couple days before still lingering on in between them. Calum coughed, breaking the silence, before deciding to say something.
"So, uh, do you remember what you told me last night?" Jess groaned internally, wondering why, of all the people she could have drunkenly made a fool of herself in front of, it had to be him. She rubbed her head, looking down, before responding.
"No, but whatever it was probably isn't true, I was drunk off my ass. I can promise you that it was a lie." She began to laugh awkwardly, her hands gripping onto each other as she waited for Cal to recount the night and what she had done.
"You told me you loved me." he got closer to her, the heartbreak evident in his eyes, but a small glimmer of hope still there. "So you promised me that everything you said was a lie, can you keep your promise?" His voice had dropped down to a whisper, and she realized just how close he was, how easy t would be to simply connect their lips. Jess was shocked at this revelation, she never thought she would have the guts to tell him she loved him after their fight, not even drunk. She paused before responding in a whisper, the words meant for his ears only.
"I guess I broke the promise." And with that, he swiftly pulled her close, kissing her with as much passion as he could muster.
