Remi dressed in a pair of black ripped shorts that came up to her belly button. Her top was a loose white shirt with Sigmund Freud on it. Above the image of the psychoanalyst, it said It's Sigmund Freud's Birthday today. Under the picture of him, in smaller font, it said I wish him a great happenis.
Remi grinned at the joke and turned to grab her backpack and keys. Thankfully, Jess had early class, so she wasn't around to ask her where she was going. She took full advantage of that fact as she left her dormitory and went straight to the den.
Walking to the den felt like walking home. The trail had become engrained in her memory. She knew exactly how to get there, even if she was blindfolded and left in the middle of the woods, she would traipse her way back and be on the front porch of the den before dinner.
When she approached the run down house, she could hear the steady heartbeats of her fellow wolves. Their calming beats excited her as she picked up to a skip and ran up the front porch.
"Honey, I'm home!" She called out for them as she pushed through the front doors. "Where's my whiskey?"
Randall laughed at the joke as he met her in the foyer. The place was a mess of red solo cups and carried the subtle scent of alcohol- just as she remembered it. Even though it had only been two days since she was last in the den, it felt like much longer.
"Hello, beautiful." Randall wrapped an arm around her waist to pull her flush against him. When her chest pressed into his he bowed down to give her a chaste kiss. The moment she felt the heat of his lips she closed her eyes and indulged in the taste of spearmint gum. She wound her arms around his neck to hold him close to her as she deepened the kiss. Her bottom lip dragged his down to open his mouth. His fingers dug into her back until her skin dimpled around him. His other hand found her hip to tug her closer to him.
"Remi. Randall." Hamish's voice was less than pleased. "Stop making out. We have serious business."
Despite her urges, she pulled away from Randall and gave him a wild smile. "Later," she promised. "To reward ourselves for completing the magic heist."
The promise filled his eyes until they sparkled with excitement. "I'll hold you to that."
She pulled herself from his arms, then moved around him to join the others in the living room. She slowed as she saw a strange skull on the coffee table with small round goggles placed over the eye sockets. "Are we holding a steampunk convention?" She joked as she sat in a lone chair beside the coffee table. "I would have brought my large chain clock if I had known."
Lilith spared her a glare as she centered the skull on the table. "This is a magical artefact that can pull memories from a person's head. Hamish-" she looked back at him. "Got a solid look at the amulet Vera was wearing. With this, we should be able to recreate the amulet and use it to get through the fear corridor." She began to adjust the specs outlining the goggles.
Remi leaned forward to press her elbows into her knees as she watched Lilith work. After a moment a projection shot out from the eyes. It projected in the air, creating a soft blue outline of a hexagonal shape that looked exactly like the amulet she saw Alyssa wearing. It had the scripture lining the outside with weird symbols carved inside of it.
"So evocative," Lilith observed as she looked at the image. "I'm reminded of Sebnem Ugural's Portraiture."
Remi smirked as she looked at Lilith. The scary she-wolf rarely ever talked about her education, so the slip-up made her grin.
