I pray for one normal day

Remi's hand trailed down Randall's bare spine. Her middle finger circled around each vertebrae until it fell into the dip at the bottom of his back. She flipped her hand over and used her nail as she trailed back up to his shoulders. She moved her hand across to trace the lax muscles around his shoulder.

Her eyes fluttered open to see his brow curls fall over her pillow. His lips parted as he let out slow, steady breaths. His cheek smashed against her soft pillow and puckered his lips even more.

She smiled as her hand moved up to rake through his curls. Each brown, tightly coiled curl circled around her fingers in an attempt to pull her in.

She became entranced by his sleeping form. He wasn't even doing anything, but she found herself incapable of looking away.

Her hand moved from his curls as she traced her knuckles over his cheek and down to his jawline. His cheek twitched under her gentle caress, and his lips pulled back into a sleepy smile. She watched as the dimple pressed into his cheek. She immediately turned her hand over to dip her finger into the dimple. She traced the length of it over and over again. His smile unconsciously widened which stretched the length of the dimple up his cheek.

She smiled as she flattened her palm over his cheek and used her thumb to smooth down his eyebrow.

"I'm a goner," she whispered to him. "But how was I supposed to keep resisting you? It's... impossible-" she giggled to herself.

Talking Head's Psycho Killer played through Remi's phone and cut off her laughter.

Randall groaned and moved his face into the pillow. Remi lifted herself up and carefully reached over his back to grab her phone from her desk. She unplugged it from her charger and answered it to stop the ringer.

"Hello?"

"Is Randall with you?" Lilith's voice sounded strained through the phone.

Remi laid her head back into her pillow as she looked over at Randall's eyelashes as they fluttered over his cheeks. "Yeah."

"God... Remi, after yesterday you should have told me!"

"I'm sorry," She breathed out as she looked up at the ceiling. "I'm sorry, I should have."

Lilith let out a breath. Remi waited for her to take time to calm down. "Did you hear the ringing last night?"

"Yeah, it was annoyingly long." She ran a hand over her forehead as she closed her eyes. "Looks like The Order is up to something bad."

"Jack thinks whatever it is, it's happening soon."

Remi hummed as she contemplated it. "Can't we all just have one normal day?"

"If you wanted normal you should have gone to a different school."

Remi laughed quietly as she dropped her hand and opened her eyes. "I guess you're right. Randall and I will head your way soon. We can talk things out then."

"That sounds good. Oh, and Remi?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't tell Randall I worried about him."

Remi smiled at nothing. "Alright, I won't tell him you actually have a heart."

There was another breath, but this one was more lighthearted, almost like a laugh. "Thanks."

"Course, see you in a bit." She hung up her phone and looked back at Randall to see his face still smashed in his pillow. She smiled and reached over him to put her phone back on her desk. After, she let her hand drag slowly over his back. Her fingers fell into each dip and rise of his muscles. She watched her fingers hypnotically as a smile pulled over her lips.
