"Okay, so..." Remi's eyes floated around the patio as she tried to find the proper wording. "The date with Jack last night-" She squinted her eyes as she looked back at Jess.
The bubbly blonde nodded enthusastically for Remi to go on. She sipped on her ice coffee as she waited patiently.
"It was horrible," Remi rushed out.
Jess's shoulders slumped as she smile fell from her red lips. She set her coffee down to give a full pout. "Why? Jack is so cute and super nice." She gushed over him.
"Yeah... that's not the issue." Remi answered truthfully. She fidgeted in her seat as she tried to think of a way out of Jack's lie.
"Oh... wait-" Jess held up a hand. Remi's gaze flickered up to watch as a devious smirk spread over her painted lips. "You don't like him because you have Randall and you didn't know that you wanted to be exclusive with Randall until you went out with Jack last night!"
The perfect excuse practically fell in Remi's lap, and she took it. "Yes!" She let a wave of relief wash over her. She shook her head and laughed at the simple solution. "I guess I didn't think of that, but as you said it-" She lifted a hand towards Jess. "It all makes sense."
Jess nodded with a small smile. "I knew you were hooked on Randall from the very first date. You stayed out so late with him! And with Jack... I just didn't see it."
"Yeah," Remi nodded along to get Jess's momentum going. "There's just something about Randall," She added to start another long tangent.
"Oh my God, is he good in bed?" Jess asked.
Remi choked on her spit. She coughed and had to sit up in her seat and beat at her chest to try and soothe her saliva down. She shook her head and lifted her iced soy latte to help wash the spit down. "God- Jess!" She laughed as she looked up at her devious roommate who gave a mere shrug. "It's more than sex, alright?" She laughed as she fanned at her hot face.
"So... what is it about him?"
Remi smiled as she sat back in her seat. The smile grew more and more as she thought about how to explain Randall. "He's just... a giant goofball, and he's incredibly sweet." Her eyes narrowed as she looked back at Jess. Her blonde friend wore a dazzling smile as she gave Remi a knowing look. "What?" Remi tilted her head in confusion.
"I ask you about Jack and you avoid my eyes and mumble awkwardbly, but I ask about Randall and it's like a kid on Christmas morning." Jess pursed her lips as she picked up her coffe and swirled it around. "Jack's got nothing on Randall."
Remi huffed at the very true statement.
"Hey, so listen, I know this might be weird since we've- well, we've only known each other for a month and there's still so much school left but..." For the first time in the entire time Remi had known Jess, she looked nervous. She bit into her red lip and looked down at Remi's hands instead of her eyes. "I know your parents are traveling all over the continent which means that they probably won't be here for Thanksgiving, and staying campus during a break sounds like a bore, so I was thinking that you- I don't know-" She shrugged as her eyes flitted up. "That maybe you would want to come stay with me and my family for Thanksgiving." She offered.
Remi let out a small breath at the kind gesture.
"It's just me, my little brother and my parents. But they always make way too much food, and we have a spare bedroom so you don't have to room with me-"
"Jess-"
"And if you don't want too- or if you have other plans that's okay too. I just thought that I would offer-"
