Remi pushed the front doors of the building open and jogged into broad daylight. Her bare feet slapped against the concrete as she cased down the steps to join Lilith and Hamish.
Lilith brushed past her and threw her arms around Randall. Remi turned around and grinned madly as Lilith embraced him. Then she pulled away and slapped him across his cheek. "You asshole. Don't ever do that again." She reprimanded him.
Remi chuckled as she gripped her cardigan tightly around her to prevent it from slipping.
Randall lifted a hand to gently pat Lilith's arm. "Missed you too, Lil." He walked past her and nodded at Hamish as he started back to the den.
Hamish looked at Remi, but she gave a quick shake of her head to dismiss the questions he was dying to ask her. He understood as he saved them and instead said, "Everyone. Back to the den."
"Even her?" Lilith motioned towards Alyssa.
"Especially her."
Alyssa's head tilted off as she gave Hamish an unimpressed glance. "I can destroy you with a snap of my fingers."
The threat made Willow want to unfurl. She was ready for more action- and more heart.
"Mm, no she can't," Jack told them all. "Not yet."
Willow settled back down. Remi looked at Hamish as he took measured steps towards Alyssa. Behind him was Randall who stalled with one foot pointed towards them and the other pointed towards the den.
Hamish stopped right in front of Alyssa and looked steely at her. "You know as well as I do, we have to talk about this."
Remi looked over at Alyssa to watch the contemplation play out behind her eyes. Instead of giving her time to process a way out of it, she walked over to Randall. He waited until she was by his side, then he turned and walked alongside her. They lagged behind Lilith and Hamish who lead the way and covered them so no one questioned their outfits.
She walked close enough to him that her blood stained knuckles knocked into his with each swing of her arm. Each touch sent an electricity through her, reminding her that he was alive and well and right beside her.
As they walked an explosion went off behind them. Remi jumped and whipped around to watch flames blow out of the windows of the building they had just left. It was a controlled fire that had contained itself to the section of the building they found Randall and killed Dr. Hemmings.
Remi's eyes flickered over to Jack and Alyssa just as Jack handed Alyssa a knife. Her eyes widened at the realization that Jack used magic to start the fire. She turned around and looked straight ahead as they continued their way through campus.
Randall was eerily quiet as they walked. She had expected him to say something, he always had a story or a quip to say, but whatever they did to him- or made him do- it kept him quiet.
The silence scared her. Randall was many things, but he was never silent.
"Hey!" A loud shout made them all stall. Remi looked over to see a group of frat boys who held wild grins and even wilder gazes. "Nice legs!"
"Ever heard of the walk of shame?" Remi called back to them. They boys hollered at her reply. She shook her head and nodded for the others to keep walking.
"Nice ass too!"
Randall stiffened beside Remi and turned towards the boys. She heard a low, deep-throated growl as his lips bared back.
Alarm flooded her as she gripped onto his forearm and ripped him back by her. "Hey-" She hissed as she dug her nails into his skin. He looked down at her as his irises flashed blue. "Don't let them get to you, let's go." She loosened her hand around his forearm and slid it under to soothingly hold onto him. "Forget those assholes, I'm pretty sure they were complimenting your ass anyways."
