Maekayla's point of view

I gulped as I looked in the doorway. I immediately looked down and brought my wrist to my stomach. "Kayla-"

"Don't-Don't call me that." I told him and looked up. I looked at him, my eyes watery and voice shakey. "You're not allowed to call me that."

"Please, get out Michael." Calum said. "Obviously, you just upset her and personally, I hate seeing her upset." He continued.

"I need to apolo-"

"Too little, too late." I told him as I wiped my eye, forgetting about the cuts and scars that littered my arms. "I don't want apologies."

In a blink of an eye, he was by my side. "Did I cause this?" He asked quickly as he got ahold of my arm. He knew Calum and Ashton would try to pull him away, and they did, but I stopped them.

"You want the truth?" I asked him as I looked into his watery green eyes. "Or a comforting lie?" I asked him, to whivh he answered with a shakey, "truth".

"Because the cold hard truth is yes. You and every other person who left me to figure out this harsh world by myself. You and every person who told me I'm not good enough nor will I ever be. You and every other person who took my trust, my love, and threw it off of the Empire State building like it was a candy wrapper." I said.

"I didn't think-"

"Words hurt Michael, though I've told you that one too many times already." Calum said, cutting him off, and Ashton nodded, agreeing with him.

"Yeah, you didn't think. You act before you think." I told him and he ran his thumb over my bruised arm. I knew it was bothering him if he did it or not and I just chuckled humorlessly. "You have a tight grip."

"I'm sorry," he choked out. "I'm so so sorry Maekayla. I can't believe I did this too you. I'm such a horrible person. I'm such an asshole. Look at you, you're a wreck and it's all my fault and-and,"

He backed away from me as if I had a disease and shook his head. He clenched his fists and then ran out of the room. It was as if he was running away from me.

"Even while I'm in a hospital bed, he runs away from me as if I have the plague." I said and rubbed my arms.

I was used to him leaving me alone. It's been happening ever since I can remember. People never stayed. Why would they? Why would he?

"Well, that was... unexpected?" Luke said and I shook my head. "I'll go after him. He needs someone too ya know, he's still our best friend." Luke stated and hopped out of his chair. He ran out and I ran a hand through my hair.

"Luke is right." I told the two remaining boys. "He's your best friend, brother even, you should be with him, not me. I'm just some girl you don't know. Bros before hoes."

"Okay, one, you are not a hoe. Two, I'll probably punch him if I get within arm's reach of him. And three, you need someone too." Calum said and gave me a small smile.

"I don't. I'm fine. I can take care of myself. Go after your band mate, he needs you." I told them, wanting to be alone. I needed to be alone.

"I'm staying," Calum said strictly and I nodded, not wanting to fight him. I can't take another fight. Lord knows what I will do if I fight with someone else.

Suddenly, a doctor walked in and nodded at me. "Nice to see you're awake." He said and I nodded. "How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Fine," I lied and smiled. "When may I leave?" I asked and he lifted some papers on his clipboard.

"You are free to go home today, however, you must come back tomorrow for some questioning." He told me and I sighed, but nodded anyways.

"Of course, see you then." I said as he handed me a slip of paper. Calum took it from me and put it in his pocket since I didn't have any. "Dammit, I don't have clothes."

"Michael's gone home." Someone said and I looked up. "And he said these were for you." He said and handed me a bag. I thanked him and them stood up. Wow. He brought me a bag of clothes.

They left the room and I quickly changed into the new set of clothes. It was a pair of galaxy print leggings, a grey off the shoulder long sleeve, and a pair of white converse.

"Ready," I said and walked out of the room. They smiled at me and I followed them out. I kept my head down as cameras flashed and girls screamed.

"I've got you," I heard someone say and suddenly I was being picked up. I looked at the person and it was Luke. He gave me a smile and I looked at him nervously.

"I'm going to break your back, please put me down. I'm incredibly heavy." I said but he didn't seem to hear, and if he did, he didn't care.

I sighed and ley him carry me to the car. We got in and I screamed a little as some girls hit the windows. "It's like a zombie apocalypse." I said, feeling a little suffocated in a small van surrounded by girls.

"It's amazing people even like us this much," Luke said and I nodded. Regardless of how I act, and how I behave, I scooted closer to whoever I was next too, in this case Luke. I needed someone right now, anyone. I was fragile at the momeny and this was scaring me.

"It's overwhelming, I know." He said and I flinched as they banged on the windows. "We got you, it's fine. Just try to ignore it yeah?"

"Yeah..."

This was terrible, I apologize. And I also apologize for such a long wait. This was definitely not worth that wait. However, I hope you guys still give this book a chance and read until the end. xx
