Maekayla's point of view

I sighed as I pulled a grey hoodie on and zipped it up. I wasn't going to get all dressed up for my brother coming home. Sure, I haven't seen him in months, but that was good. I had months without his constant judgment and criticism. Besides, he ignores me when he's not picking my flaws out, so it wasn't too hard to get used to him leaving all the time.

I walked to our kitchen, my platinum blonde and electric blue hair swaying side to side as I walked. I always hated when it does that, it's annoying and it looks like a horse's tail.

"Kayla," my mum said disapprovingly. "What are you wearing?" She asked me as she looked my outfit up and down.

"A grey hoodie and black skinny jeans," I answered and looked down. "Oh, and black boots," I said. She sighed and shook her head.

"Michael should be here any minute," she said happily and my dad walked into the kitchen. I walked out and up to my room, ignoring my mum's, "Go change your clothes!" as I did.

I rolled my eyes and picked up my phone. I plugged in my earphones and turned on my music. I put it in my pocket and soon Bon Jovi's 'Runaway' was blasting through my earphones.

I only had one earphone in when I walked back to the lounge. I heard a knock on the door but my parents were too caught up in a make out session to hear it. I sighed and went to the door. He has a key, I don't understand why he needs to knock.

I sang the lyrics quietly as I opened the door. I saw three boys, who I didn't know at all, standing there with their bags. "May I help you all?" I asked and one started bobbing their head.

"We're running away from our parents, can we stay here?" The one with tanned skin and black and blonde hair joked. I kept my face emotionless and he cleared his throat awkwardly. "Erm we're here to see Mr. and Mrs. Clifford, their son is just getting his bags."

I nodded and let them in. As soon as I was about to shut the door, I saw Michael. He had blue hair and had a few bags in his hands. His smile faded as he saw me and I just walked away while shaking my head.

I went up to my room and flicked my bangs out of my face. They covered one of my eyes and my scar. One that such a lovely person gave me while we were arguing. He had pushed me when I walked away and I tripped, hitting my head on the doorknob.

My name was called and I sighed. I zipped my hoodie back up since it was falling and started singing the song that was playing, which again, was by mister Jon Bon Jovi. He's a legend. The band is a legend.

I stood next to my mother and she introruced me blankly, like she didn't want to but she had to. "This is Maekayla, and Maekayla, these are Michael's band mates." I nodded and waited for Michael to answer the question I knew they were all wondering.

"She's my cousin," he said and I faked a smile while nodding. "She's staying with us for a bit since her parents are out on a business trip."

"Nice to meet you," the one who cracked the lamest joke to me at the door said with a hand held out. "I'm Calum," he said and I nodded.

"Kayla," I said and he pointed to the two boys next to him. One with a blonde quiff and blue eyes, the other with wavy hair and hazel eyes.

"This is Ashton," he said, pointing to the one with hazel eyes. "And this is Luke." he said, pointing to the one with blue eyes. They smiled and I shook their hands.

"May I be excused?" I asked and Michael nodded quickly. I walked away from them and up to my room. I didn't want to be down there. I knew no one wanted me there, so I left.

There's no point in being somewhere when no one, not even you, wants to be there.

I closed my door and jumped on my bed. It made a giant creaking sound and I sighed. I almost broke my bed because I'm so fat. I pulled my phone out and changed the song.

The song 'A Daydream Away' by All Time Low played and I sighed as I closed my eyes. My favorite song. I was quiet throughout the whole song and tears sprung to my eyes.

It was my favorite song because I think of Michael when it plays. I'll keep the idea of us being the perfect siblings a daydream away. The idea of him actually caring about me is a daydream away. And it'll stay that way because he isn't the one to apologize first, and I really have nothing to apologize for.

I wiped my eyes and there was a knock at my door. I stood up and walked to the door, opening it slightly so I could see who it is. "Mum said go eat," Michael told me blankly and he walked away.

"Tell her I'm not hungry," I said and closed my door. I wasn't hungry. I just wanted to sleep the whole time he's going to be here, or forever. Which ever lasts longer.

I sighed and slid down my door. I focused on the music until another knock sounded on the door. I stood up and opened the door. Suddenly, a hand came crashing down on my face and I stumbled back.

"Oops," I heard someone say and I looked up. Michael stood there again, a smirk on his face. I shook my head and held my cheek in pain. "Mum said you have to go down there, now," was all he said and walked away.

I followed him, shutting my door behind me, and held my cheek. He didn't even apologize. I plastered a fake smile on my lips as I got in the kitchen. I took a seat next to Calum and who I think is Luke and looked down at my lap.

"You're not gonna eat?" I heard Calum whisper towards me and I looked up. "What happened to your cheek?" he asked. It must be red already.

"I was laying on my bed and my hand was pressed against it. It must have left a red mark." I lied amd he nodded. "I'm not hungry," I answered his quiestion but my mum gave me a plate anyways.

"Eat," she said and I sighed. I grabbed my fork and pushed around the mashed potatoes and chicken. The only thing I would really eat on this plate it the salad, then other two are too fattening.

I took a bite of the salad and everyone else started talking about the band. I put both of my earphones in and listened to the lyrics of the song that was playing.

I ate slowly to make it seem like I ate more, which no one noticed. I wash dishes anyways, so they won't notice. I throw the grabage out too, so they won't see the food in there either.

By the time everyone way finished, I had taken my plate and pushed what I didn't eat into the garbage can. Everyone put their dishes on the counter and I started washing them.

Someone grabbed a dish and I looked to see who it was. Calum stood there and he started washing them with me. He pulled an earphone out of my ear and I questioned him.

"What are you doing? This is my job. Go with the others," I said, not looking at him. I set the dish in he dish rack and he shrugged his shoulders.

"I can't let you wash all these dishes by yourself, there are far too many." he told me and I stayed quiet. "Did you eat before we came?" he asked me, referring to why I didn't eat much.

"Yeah," I lied and he nodded. We continued washing the dishes until someone walked in, wondering where Calum was.

"That's her job Cal, you don't need to help her. C'mon, we're going to play some football outside." I heard Michael's familiar voice say.

"Are you okay with doing all these by yourself?" I nodded and he dried his hands on his jeans. "I'll be out there in a few minutes." he called out and Michael shouted an okay.

"Your cheek is bruising," he said as I turned my head to grab the dish he had set down. "What happened? That doesn't happen from just laying on it."

"It's nothing," I said and he gave me a concerned look. "Just go play football," I said as I dismissed the topic and put my other earphone in.
