With this ringing in her ears, Octavia quickly swatted the flower out of her hair, Jasper, Monty and Maggie laughing all the way.
"The flowers aren't poisonous. They're medicinal. Calming, actually," Monty explained. Octavia turned to give him a dirty look.
"His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the Ark," Jasper said, addressing Maggie's impressed look.
"Hey, guys," Clarke said, exasperated already. "Can you try to keep up?"
"Come on, Clarke," Finn rebutted. "How can you block all this out?"
"Well, it's simple. I wonder, why haven't we seen any animals? Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. It sure is pretty, though. Come on." Clarke kept walking.
Maggie clicked her tongue. "She's got a point."
"Someone should slip her some poison sumac," Octavia joked, looking at Finn, who chuckled with the rest of them before continuing to follow her. Along the way, Finn inquired about what Jasper and Monty did to get busted.
Monty's only explanation was, "Sumac's not the only herb in the garden. If you know what I mean."
"Weed," Maggie deadpanned. "You mean weed."
"Someone forgot to replace what we took," Jasper muttered.
"Someone's apologised like a thousand times."
"What about you, Octavia?" Jasper changed the subject. "What did they get you for?"
After some silence, Octavia answered. "Being born." She bounded up to join Clarke. Finn turned to Maggie expectantly.
"What about you? You look older than the rest of us."
"Well, technically it was for stealing medicine to help a woman in labor," the older girl answered, "but I think there was also the crime of hacking into the Ark's database and memorising all delinquent crimes."
Monty's eyebrows rose in surprise. "You know about all the hundred's crimes?"
"Oh, yeah. I was Marcus Kane's apprentice-thingamajig. There was no label. It was easy to get in."
Clarke ushered them over, crouching in the bush with grin on her lips. Silently, all four of them walked up to where she was, admiring the beauty that was in front of them.
