"Up! Up!" My limbs had shrunken dramatically, I had my arms raised over my head. I seemed to be grabbing for something...someone. They weren't listening to me. I wanted them to pay attention.
"Not now honey, I'm busy." They brushed me away as they talked with their big scary friends. That's not fair. Why weren't they giving me attention? I could feel a tantrum storming around inside of me, threatening to flare out. I pulled on their coat.
"Up! Up!" Just as they went to look at me I was torn away into the morning.
(19 days till the next Greenie)
"Up. Come on it's time to get up." Newt jostled me awake. I lay there staring up at the cobwebbed ceiling.
"I'm up, I'm getting up." I sighed, struggling to stand. I stretched my arms out. "What's on the agenda today Boss Man." Newt scratched the back of his neck.
"Kitchen day. You're gonna be cooking with Fry, which is why I got you up about an hour early."
"The world isn't used to seeing me at this hour." I groaned.
"Well it can adapt. Come on." He pushed me towards the door. Just then dread flushed itself on me.
"Wait wait wait!" I stopped, before we met the door. "I can't go to the kitchen because that's where they make the food and Zart needs food to live!"
"What?" Newt looked at me bewildered. I slumped against one of the tables conveniently placed in the closet.
"I don't want to see Zart because I know he likes me Dum Dum."
"Is that so bad? I mean Zart seems like he's a pretty nice shank." Newt's forehead had creased with confusion. I buried my head in my hands.
"Yeah that's part of the problem Newt. He's nice, too nice. I'd ruin him. I'd break his heart. And then! And then he'd look at me with those stupid puppy dog eyes he has and I'd feel like shit! It's better this way y'know." I couldn't keep myself from rambling. "I'll just avoid him! Because then he'll go away and I won't have to deal with him! The problem will just go away and-"
"Okay right now you're starting to sound whacked." Newt had cut me off. "Zart's not just gonna grow wings and fly away. You're gonna have to deal with him eventually." He placed a hand on my shoulder. "And that might as well be today."
"I hate it when you're right you weirdo old man trapped in a kids body." I grumbled, squinting my eyes. He shoved me out the door with a little too much enjoyment.
"Alright alright." I rubbed my back. "Take it easy with the merchandise you Dildo." He smacked my arm, scorning at my language. I laughed and trekked over to the bathroom.

Frypan chuckled as I jumped back from the frying pan. It was on the stove and popping up with oil. "Don't be scared Greenie." He seemed to have a permanent smile on his face. "Here, why don't you help Jack cut up the fruit and I'll handle this."
"Thanks Fry." I seemed to be excellent at chopping things. It came to me naturally as though I was unlocking a skill long kept in my mind. I actually seemed to enjoy the atmosphere. Constant talk between people, everyone quickly swarming around, and the sweet little crackle of Frypan's small radio.
He had it taped it up on a post, it played a range of sweet little melodies (Currently it was playing "You Never Can Tell"). I had just tossed the fruit in a big bowl when Frypan took my hand and whirled me around to the music. We both laughed like children as I did the same to him.
"Nice moves."
"Thanks Greenie." He chuckled, bantering back with me. Boys were starting to line up, complains of hunger fluttering around the air. I was assigned with serving them so that's what I did. Guy after guy. And then I saw Gally standing with his plate across the table from me. I grinned.
