"Chuck, stop following me." I said, very firmly this time. It was difficult to turn the boy away but I knew it had to be done. As Bad as it was to gamble with my own life. I would not hold the guilt of Chuck's little life if he was harmed.
"But I wanna go." He replied, still trailing behind me. God, why couldn't he just listen?! Why did he have to follow me?
"Things are getting all out of wack Chuck." I huffed, wiping the forming beads of sweat off of my forehead. "Ben's dead, Alby's gone beserk, Gally's got some bitchy little vendetta with Thomas. Oh and don't get started on Thomas. He's the one that wanted to go back out there in the first place! Not to mention we got a random unconscious girl sprawled out on my bed who knows not only Thomas, but me too!" I spun around, stopping Chuck's naive chase. "Please just do me a favor and stay here. You're safe here."
"But I want to go." His face was flushed pink at our dispute. I hated saying no to him but I had to.
"I don't care what you want." I snapped. "You're staying here and that's that, got it?" Chuck glowered, the closest I had ever seen to him being upset.
"You can't tell me what to do y/n." Chuck glowered, the closest I had ever seen to him being upset. All signs of his dimples were no where to be seen. His teeth were even gritted together. Impressive.
"I think I just did." I said roughly. Come on y/n just stay strong just a little longer, maybe the kid will finally leave you alone. "Deal with it." Turning on my heels I headed to the meeting spot.
"That's not fair!" He strode after me angrily. "Stop trying to take care of me all the time!" That's what made me fly off the handle.
"It's my job to take care of you, okay! It's what I do!"
"I wouldn't hate it so much if you let me take care of you too! I thought we were friends! Like equal!"
"Chuck, you're a little boy who can barely tie his shoes-"
"Stop treating me like I'm a little kid y/n, I'm not!"
"Go back to the treehouse."
"You're the one who needs to be taken care of y/n, not me!"
"I'm just trying to protect you!" I shouted. Fuck. I hope that wasn't too loud. Sighing, I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Look I'm sorry for yelling at you. I shouldn't have done that. If you want to go, no one's stopping you." And with that I rounded myself back to the spot.
Only this time no soft footsteps melodized behind me.

Each of us came from different corners of the glade. Drawn like magnets to our secret meeting. There was Frypan, cautious but ready for the task. Winston readying himself for action. Zart, who gave me an awkward smile to make up for a crummy past. Minho who fell silent and serious, no snarky remarks this time. Thomas awaited us, nerves buzzing.
"This enough?" Minho asked, brows raised. Thomas looked the group over, eyeing me up and down.
"Can we trust her? I mean you're not gonna go tell Gally about this, right?"
"About what?" My eyes gleamed, a smirk curling my lips. It wasn't Gally's business on what I did. Besides, I was ready to get out of this stupid cage.
My answer seemed to suffice and Thomas gave an affirming nod.
"Okay." He said, stoically straightening his posture. Any fear he had coming out of the box had died. Replaced with an innate ability to survive. Struggle to get out. I admired that. A lot. "Let's go."
