Dirt crunched underneath me. Sprigs of fresh flowers lay strewn on George's grave. The day stretched longer today. The sun had been bright, now starting to fade. A little bit still swirled in the glade I was currently inhabiting. Well digging in is a better phrasing. More like digging frantically. Chuck, my sweet companion, was right on the ground with me.

"Come on, come on." Dirt snuck under my finger nails as I tore at the earth. "Where is it?!" My spine ached from bending over the ground.

"Do you think you could've put it in a different place?" Chuck lilted, harrowing away at a nice calm pace. A melodic song spilled out of birds mouths, making it feel like some twisted Disney movie.

"No, I specifically remember putting it on the right side of George's grave."

"It's just a locket." He said in a level tone. "Maybe you can just talk to Gally instead, you know? To calm him down."

"It is not just a locket Chuck. He made it for me, with his own fucking hands and I got mad and I buried it in this stupid graveyard!" My voice had risen in volume until it had reached it's peak. Heart pounding furiously, I assuaged my temple with my fingers.

A hand splayed itself on my back.

"Y/n it's okay." Chuck smoothed the fabric of my shirt. "Just breathe, it's gonna be okay. Why don't you just let me look for a little bit. I'll look, just relax."

There I sat. Head on my knees, only the chirping of birds to fill the noise. Sun haloed down on me, sinking into my skin. Slowly, my breathing regulated, streaming in and out slowly.

My wrist was taken from me, palm turned upwards. Cool metal poured onto my skin. The charm chinked against the chain. Relief flooded on impact. Lifting my head, I saw it. Gally's gift. Right in my hand.

I kissed it.

"Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!" I was up on my feet in a flash. I felt him beam when I flung my arms around him. "You did it Chucky!" My fingers entwined in his curls, giving them a loving toss. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. A permanent smile staked into my face as I spun around the graveyard, landing in a big pile of leaves. "Thank you Chuck. Thank you so so so much!"

"You can thank me later." Chuck laughed, pulling me up. "After we go stop your homicidal boyfriend."

"Fair enough."

Hand in hand I dragged him as we sprinted off to find Gally.

"Gally!" I ran toward his stagnant tall figure, urging my legs to move faster. "Gally!" He stayed still, back turned away from me as he waited contemptuously at the maze's entrance. Awaiting the arrival of Thomas. "Gally!" I shouted it even louder this time, wrapping my arms around his middle. He was knocked forward as I tackled him from behind, only catching himself at the last second.

"Y/n?!" He finally responded, leaving me glowing from his words. "The hell are you doing?!"

"I found it!" I reached up to loop my arms around his neck, pulling him close as I could to me. Kissing him so sweetly. I was a little rough but it was only because I couldn't stand being away any longer. I kissed him the way I knew made his cheeks flush and ears turn that funny shade of red. Not caring who saw or who whistled or who did anything. Why would I when all I cared about was Gally?

He gulped when pulling away, eyes wide open in surprise. His eyebrows arched back up to there overly expressive selves.

"What'd you find? You know I'm still not over the whole Thom-" I let the locket drop, still keeping a hold of the chain to give him the big reveal.
