Loki stopped by his mother's study from his way from the library back to his sleeping quarters.
Arms fills with books, he tapped the door open with his foot and called out for her whilst entering.
"Mother!"
"Yes, my son?"
She dropped her writing utensils on her desk and turned her full attention to her little boy, titling her head as well.
"What is it?"
"I– Um..." He adjusted his grip in his reading material and pondered on his question. "Why do the best people always die?"
She smiled warmly at him and rested her hands on her lap. "You're referring to those novels, aren't you, my little one."
He blushed a shade of pale pink and squirmed under her motherly gaze, looking away.
"I guess..."
Frigga gestured for him to come closer and he practically sprinted forward and jumped onto her lap. The Allmother wrapped her arms around the young adolescent and planted a kiss on his head of dark hair. She always has time for her children, and if she didn't she made sure to make that necessary time for them.
"You see," she shifted his weight so he could look up at her kind eyes. "The best people always die because... When in a garden, which flowers do you pick?"
He broke into a smile, he knew how to answer that question honestly.
"The most beautiful ones, mother. The ones without imperfections on the outside. You pick the flowers most pleasant to the eye; the prettiest ones you see, of course."
She let a small laugh escape her lips, "You just answered your own question."
Loki looked down at the ground, but Frigga caught his facial expression changing, eyebrows furrowing and lips pursing.
"I don't understand."
She pulled him closer to her chest.
"You see, child. As you said, the most beautiful ones you pick. So the most beautiful souls are picked just like flowers are, and you know what happens once a flower is picked."
"It has no roots, it dies in a way."
"Correct, so the best people always die because they're the most beautiful. But you know, everyone dies eventually."
She tickled him, and he giggled in such a childish way Frigga felt her heart warming at the sound.
Like music to her ears.
"Is that all?" She dragged her words in a playful way.
Loki nodded his head and ran off and about.
He forgot to close the door, so the Allmother did so herself using her magic to aid her and then she shook her head to herself.
She hoped her beloved son would turn out alright, even if he was built on a foundation of lies.

M/D/YHi.
Anyway,
I think my humour is broken. You see, Old Loki popped up on my YouTube and I laughed, I thought about posting this One-Shot on here and I laughed, I saw a somewhat dull meme on Pinterest and I laughed, I watched a Tik Tok and I laughed, and lastly I spent like 23 minutes on Instagram and laughed at freaking fanart.
Xo to whomst reads this, it means a lot.
