Shit.
I'm late for the job.
My first day at Stark Industries and I'm late.
The world hates me I swear.
I just got this job working as Pepper Potts assistant, I don't need it for the money but for a different agenda. Which should be accomplished soon.
Unless I screw things up...
Ugh, why is my mind like this.
I speed up, now just a minute from the Avengers tower.
The world famous building comes into view, I slow down and straighten out my white blouse and black, tight-fitting pencil skirt wanting to make a good first impression. I quickly check that my marks are fully invisible, the company I actually work for developed a cloaking bracelet, once on and locked it scans and hides all traces of ones marks also temporarily stopping the reaction of the soulmate bond upon meeting and interaction. I still hadn't met them so I had to be careful.
Luckily, I had ended up being right on time, although now a little sweaty from jogging part of the way to make up for lost time. As it was a half an hour walk from my temporary apartment, yet I ended up leaving fifteen minutes ago. A new record, if I do say so myself.
Seeing the tinted glass doors standing strong at the entrance of the building I pause taking a few deep breaths attempting to calm my rising anxiety.
Don't show weakness.
Come on Aurora just walk in like you know what you're doing...okay.
You are a professional, now act like one.
This mental pep talk is not working.
I start my descent into the tower and push the glass door open by the handle, I'm met with the sight of people in black ironed out sleek suits and smart clothing spaced up and down the room, talking to each other, sat with laptops, on phone calls, drinking coffee and they look like serious business employees.
People dotted around the room all with great purpose and responsibility. None of them looked clueless or without a specific agenda.
I've done jobs like this many times and yet I've never felt so unprepared.
You see, I work for a company that recruits people that are different or skilled in ways that are unique to them.
They give us a mission and we comply whether willing or not and complete the task.
Whether it's monitoring people, finding new recruits, stealing technology or just taking out someone in their way. We get assigned to do it all.
I didn't choose to be part of the company, they found me and took my fre- saved me. They saved me. And ma- allowed me to do missions for them. To help the company.
This mission is to extract Stark and Avengers information and plans and to deliver them back to the organisation.
Just like they taught me, to help the company reach their goals, to be a resource for them to use day after day, night after night.
My line of sight settles upon a female receptionist sat behind a black marble desk, staring into a bright computer screen. Her face was glowing lightly from the light of the screen she had been focused on so closely.
I strut towards the desk, "Excuse me Miss, I am here to meet with Miss Potts for the assistant job. It's my first day."
I tapped my fingers lightly on the marble counter as I tried to ignore the few scars on my hands and arms I could see, courtesy of the many previous missions I had ventured on.
