......

"Hadi" I whispered my best friend's name.

My breath astrays, as I put away the oxygen mask to spoke his name.

He lift up his brows with a little wrinkled forehead and a half open mouth he inhaled deep, his chest came out. He wiped his tears off.

"Hey! You mus..t..stay— quiet" A shake in his voice was baffle for me.

He placed back the oxygen mask on my face. Lift his neck up, bit lips, wiped his tears from his index finger and forced a smile at me.

His milky white colour had a blend of cherry red as he forcibly stopped his tears.

I looked deep in his eyes, tilted my lips and again put off the mask; "Please read that poem for me" I requested him.

He started crying heavily.

I held his hand, pressed them gently and insisted him one more time.

He locked his lips inside, clinched his jaws;

"If I.." His brittle voice went through my ears.

"If I die in battle zone" I helped him completing the stanza.

"Pack me up & send me home
Put my medals on my chest
Tell my parents I did my best
Tell my Nation not to cry" he leaned down his head on my hands and cried one more time.

"I was a SOLDIER born to die" I completed the last stanza of the poem.

He jumped up a hug to me.

And,

I closed my painful eyes once again.
