Hidden From The Shadows (Shadow Series #01)

Prologue

Loraine's POV

Weapons clashing and some of our comrades are dying, we didn't prepared for this to happen. The enemies attacks us in the middle of our training, I saw my friends fighting while protecting their child.

I saw Gavril the heir of our section, fighting with rage. I wandered my eyes and I saw his wife laying on the ground bathing in her own blood and there's their son Gray crying and shaking his mother's shoulder.

"Mom wake up, mommy." He cried and I didn't notice that I was crying too, thinking about Zyler my son.

I saw an enemy running towards me and my daughter, I was about to defend my self when my husband, Sky, stopped the enemy for me.

"Go Loraine." He said as he pierced his sword on the enemy's stomach and slashed the enemy's neck

"N-no I will not go without y-you." I choke back a sob trying not to let a tear out of my eye but I failed.

He kissed my forehead and smiled at me.

"Protect our daughter Loraine, I can't lose you including our son." He said, he ran towards the enemies and fought them even he's tired.

"Go Loraine! I'll protect Zyler I promise, Go!" He shouted and I nodded as an answer.

'Stay alive please.' I said through pensamientos internos—inner thoughts.

'I will now go, I love you.' He responded and I ran as fast as I could.

While running I cleared my way while carrying Zyleighn, my daughter. I stop running when I reach the forest. Its raining hard and I heard my daughter's cry.

"Shh mommy's here don't cry baby." I wiped her tears and I heard her soft giggle that made my tears fall again.

"Mommy will protect you." I added and kiss her forehead.

I stood up and start walking until I reach a place full of people, streets are filled with lights, different kinds of building and I saw some vehicles moving on the street.

"Mundo de los humanos." (World of Humans) I said to myself, I can't believe it, at the end of the forest the World of Humans was here.

"How will I let you live in this world Leigh?" I worriedly ask her.

"Excuse me miss, nawawala ka ba?" A man approach me.

"Umm do you know any orphanage here?" I asked him and he nodded.

"That corner over there, turn left and three blocks from that building." He said and I thank him.

'House of Love'

I knock at the door and an old lady showed up.

"Ano ang maitutulong ko sa iyo hija?" She ask using her language.

"Nais ko po sanang pumarito ang anak ko." I replied, and showed her my daughter.

"Pasok hija." she invited me inside, I was shock when I saw almost hundreds of children.

She lead the way to her office, she gave me a paper and a pen.

"Pirmahan mo iyan ng maisaayos ko na ang kalagayan ng batang ito." she said as I handed my daughter to her.

I heard her cry but it was louder than earlier, I choke back my tears and smiled.

"Alagaan niyo po ng mabuti ang anak ko, babalik ako rito para kunin siya, Sereia Zyanya ang ngalan niya kung nais mo mang itanong." I can't say her real name, besides it will protect her identity.

I kissed Leigh's forehead before getting out of that building. I cried and cried, it was a mistake for leaving her alone in this world but I know she will be okay, I can see it in her eyes that she will grow as a strong woman. I activate my element to go back to Academia de Elementos (Element Academy) , I thought it was over but it was getting worse than before. I throw my dagger towards the enemy's chest, I ran towards Sky and he was shock to see me so soon.

"Where's Leigh?" He ask.

"I leave her in an orphanage." I hesitantly answered.

"W-what? Where?" He worriedly ask, I didn't answer because I know he will be mad but I need to tell the truth.

"Mundo de los humanos." I answered directly that made his eyes widened in shock.

"Loraine you know its dangerous out there." he said and I can sense that he is angry.

"Sky if its the only way that can save her then I will do it, if you we're in my shoes it would be hard to make a decision like that." I argued.

"Sky I will come back for her, I know she is in great hands." I added and he heaved a sigh.

"I'm just worried." He said.

"I'm more worried as you are, so let's end this." I grip my dagger and ready for any attacks.

"Gavril is out of his mind." Sky suddenly said.

"His wife died and Gray lost his control to the point that someone tries to go near him it freezes." I saw Gray silently crying.

'Gray, don't cry now and control yourself dear.' I communicate to him, luckily he stop crying and turn his gaze to me.

I saw him running towards me, I immediately go to his direction and kill the enemy that gets in his way.

"M-mommy d-died, Lor-loraine m-mommy." He sob, I carried him and he buried his face on my neck.

He is still 3 years old yet he saw what our world truly is, I caress his back. I'm worried about Leigh, if Gray experience this kind of situation how much more if Leigh was seeing this war. I run towards our dorm and put Gray on his father's room, it turned out that he ended up sleeping because of crying. I jump from the top of the roof while firing the enemies with my blades.

"C'mon let's end this shit." Gavril said as he stand beside Sky.

I saw Athena, Aphrodite, Michelle, Fiona, Vigor, Michael and Xavier approaching us.

"Akeldama! Ready yourselves you are the front liners!" We heard sir Hezekiah's voice and we nodded in unison.

We ran towards the enemies and that day the war ends, the ground was covered in blood. I sit on the ground because of tiredness and for the nth time I cried. My husband hug me and we saw Zyler running towards us.

"Where's Leigh?" He ask.

"I left her in the world of humans." I answered.

"Is she gonna be alright?" He worriedly ask.

"You will find her soon understand?" I kissed his forehead and he nodded as a response.

He's just 6 years old but his mind is like a 13 year old boy, I smiled at him and we went into our dorm. I'm here in our dorms terrace, its already 7 o'clock in the evening and I'm looking at the stars.

'Leigh, be safe as always my dear.'

And from that day on, I was send into a mission and I know Leigh will be back in our world, a world that is far to mankind and only people like us exist.
