"Networking hey?" Namil asked in response to Jake's answer as to their reason for attending the fundraising event with Jungkook. "That seems sensible, is it politics then that you're interested in getting into?"
Jake thought about the question for a moment, thinking back to what he had learned from Jungkook over the past few months, "I guess. It's always good to know who pulls the leavers, wouldn't you say?"
Namil snorted at the remark, before nodding, "Wow, that's certainly a very pragmatic world view for someone so young"
"I guess I've spent too much time with Jungkook" Jake replied in jest, presuming Jungkook's pseudo philosophy being common knowledge to his friend.
"Well, it's certainly a rather sensible dogma to instil into you. And, aside from Yours Truly, this place is full of all the right people who are in all the right places - if you know what I mean..."
"Nepotism?" It was Sunghoon who spoke. His abrupt choice of word startled Jake who was immediately worrying that Namil would take it the wrong way.
"Exactly!" Namil confirmed, to Jake's surprise, taking no offence at the comment. "So let me introduce you to them, but I can't be doing that if your hands are empty." With a simple gesture, Namil instructed Jake and Sunghoon to follow him.
Despite his limited height, Namil walked with a sense of authority, leading the two teenagers, who were trailing in his wake through the crowds of people to a bar that was located in the centre of the room.
As they had walked, neither Jake nor Sunghoon said anything to each other. Both were far too preoccupied with following the short gentleman whilst simultaneously taking in their surroundings. Jake found himself trying to eavesdrop moments of conversations that he walked by. It was difficult to make out most of the words, the room was presently being drowned in the 'light' jazz music playing in the background.
"Right, what would you like?" Namil asked them upon reaching the bar and first ordering a glass of red wine for himself. Despite only knowing Namil for a few minutes Jake already felt comfortable with him.
"Ummm" Sunghoon wondered out loud as he and Jake gathered on the left of Namil, "Something that's not too strong"
Jake smiled to himself at the caution his friend showed whenever alcohol appeared, "C'mon - live a little!" Jake said, rubbing Sunghoon's back with his hand.
Sunghoon stared back at Jake, acknowledging the instruction with a soft smile, "Fine then, I'll have whatever we had that night after Aicha's party"
The grin on Jake's face grew in reference to that night that was being held increasingly strongly in his memory. Turning to Namil but speaking loud enough for the barman to hear, Jake ordered "Okay - two vodka lemonades please?"
This request was promptly met with scoffs of laughter from Namil and the barman. "What?" Jake asked confused, querying the derision he and Sunghoon were now receiving.
"Vodka lemonade?" Namil asked, gawking in exaggerated shock.
The barman interjected, "It's no problem sirs, if you want it I'll make it." Jake nodded and the barman retreated off to make their order.
Once Namil had allowed the exaggerated shock to subside from his face he brought himself closer to them, so his voice could be heard more clearly. "So, aside from having a rather peculiar drinks order, tell me about yourselves?"
