JJ walked directly behind me. It was clear the boy didn't want to get killed by the axe murderer and he "needed" protection.
"JJ, your breath smells like weed. Please, step back a bit." I whisper to the boy.
"I can't, Leia. The axe murderer will kill me."
"You're such a pussy."
"Shh." John B demands. JJ and I listen. "Okay. This is easy. All we have to do is get down to the basement, send me down the well, then we got our gold."
Sarah nods, then continues to lead us through the yard. Suddenly, lights flash on.
"Shit!"
"Duck!"
"Shhh."
"Motion sensor lights. Perfect." I groan while rolling my eyes. "How're we supposed to get to the basement?"
"We walk really slowly?" JJ suggests. Pope and I turn our heads to the boy in utter shock. "You're a dumbass." We state at the same time.
"Throw a rock at it?"
"No."
"The electrical box. We used to play hide and seek here as kids. Whoever lost had to run to the porch and back. I've seen it." Sarah explains. Before anyone can stop her, she begins walking towards it.
"No. No way are you going up there alone." John B states protectively.
"Fine. Then Kie will come with me."
John B rolls his eyes. It was clear he wasn't a fan of the plan, but what was he gonna do? There was no way in hell he could stand up to not only Sarah, but Kiara as well.
"Okay, fine. Just, be safe."
"Okay." Sarah smiles, before creeping towards to the porch.
"Be safe." Pooe comments towards JJ and I.
"Oh I'll be so safe." JJ jokes.
"I'll be safe for you." I jokingly moan to the boys. JJ and Pope can't keep their mouths shut with laughter, which causes John B to get pissed.
"Chill, JB."
"Shut the fuck up."
"We love you, Humpty Dumpty." I comment.
Before he can make a snarky comeback, the lights flicker off.
"They did it."
I smile, then guide the boys to the basement. "Hurry up. We have to get this done fast."
"That's what she said." JJ jokes. John B, Pope, and I look at JJ as if he just said the dumbest thing in the world-- which he did.
"Just- just- stop. JJ, stop talking. Please."
