ONE MONTH LATER

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My debut album "A Rare Storytelling" has been out and available for streaming on SoundCloud finally for about a month now and has been receiving pretty good reviews. I felt so relieved to finally have it out for the world to have a proper introduction to "Keylah Rose". My stage name. I also decided my supporters would be called "Keychains" because they are truly the key to my success and outreach and I value them A LOT. Oh yeah, I should catch you up to speed of the past month.

So, in-between dropping singles I ended up having a professional promo shoot done through Tyler's "friend"/photographer Wyatt. They flew all the way here from Cali just to make it happen for me and I'm incredibly grateful. It was the first time seeing Tyler in person again since my first time being in LA last year. It was nice and awkward at the same time because when I wanted to hang out one on one, he and Wyatt already had something planned or it turned into a third wheel ordeal and I'm not gonna lie, I was HELLA offended.

Anywho. They left, I dropped the next single, and started the countdown for the album. I dropped the album cover, then began revealing a track title every day until it was released but I'm getting ahead of myself. Two days before the album dropped, Tyler surprised my friends and me by flying us all to LA for the weekend and then proceeded to throw a surprise album listening party with both mine and his close friends (who have become my mutuals). Everyone loved it and had little to no critiques at all which made me cry tears of joy and of course his head ass got it on video. At one point in the weekend, Tyler and I went out to lunch and caught up and he told me some tea that I had kinda already known just from context clues. He had also apologized for making me feel left out when he and Wyatt came to Michigan. I accepted and we're cool again.

A week after us returning from LA, the Dreamerz and I are having a study/jam session when Khadijah speaks out.

Khadijah: Key. Can I talk to you for a minute?

Akeylah: (smiles) Everything good Deej?

Khadijah: (eyes dart around) Uh...I just need to talk to you. Alone.

Akeylah: Oh...Okay. Let's go in my room.

We get up from our spots in the living room and walk into my room. I sit on my bed as Khadijah closes the door behind her and sits at my desk.

Khadijah: So...I have to tell you something but I need you to promise me that you'll stay calm.

Akeylah: (furrows brows) Yeah...just because you said that now I'm on edge.

Khadijah: No! Please Key. Just...promise me you'll be cool.

Akeylah: Deej, I can't promise something if I don't know what it is. Just tell me.

Khadijah: Key...

Akeylah: Khadijah Sharay Hawthorne...

Khadijah: Girl...Don't say my whole name like that.

Akeylah: (sighs) Can you please just say it.

Khadijah: So...Yesterday while I was leaving my class, I saw Michael but he didn't see me.
