It's been about a week since the album release and I have been doing nothing but press, Press, and more PRESS. Even though I was glad that I was getting attention, A bitch is tired! I have not gotten an adequate amount of sleep in two days. I'm running off of Starbucks and salmon jerky. Just today I went by Bryhana's show at Power 106, The Cruz Show, and now we're stopping at Big Boys Neighborhood at 92.3.

Tyler was with me today since I was in LA and doing things instate. The past two days I was in New York and tomorrow I fly to Atlanta.

Big Boy: Big Boy's Neighborhood! We have Ms. Keylah Rose in the neighborhood. How are you feeling?

Akeylah: This is insane! Like...I can't believe that I am here, in the studio with you guys. This is really cool.

Big Boy: It's a pleasure to have you here. Thank you for hanging out with us.

Akeylah: Of course! Thank you for having me.

Big Boy: I just have to say this. I have been watching you grow as an artist since the first album.

Akeylah: Oh my Gawd! Really!? You knew who I was?? That's so crazy!

Big Boy: Yeah. Yeah. I've been watching you and you are a talented young lady. I don't know anyone right now that writes their own music, produces, sings, raps, plays instruments, and can dance. That's pretty amazing.

Akeylah: Actually...I don't "really" rap. I can be getting something across and it just comes off that way. That's not my thing.

Big Boy: Really? Give me an example then.

Akeylah: (laughs) Okay so on this new joint "Still" on the album, people just think I'm SPITTING like yes barz! But I'm really not. It's just the way that it flowed. I'm just talking shit. Not rapping. Not a rapper. I leave that to the professionals.

Big Boy: So if I asked you to freestyle right now, you can just do the talking shit thing and it would work right?

Akeylah: (laughs again) Oh Gawd no! I hate being put on the spot ESPECIALLY if people ask me to freestyle. Like. What?? I'm not even gone hold y'all, I'd probably die of embarrassment before I could even open my mouth. Can't do it.

Everyone in the studio around us laughed

Natalia: So Keylah I wanted to ask. How long have you been doing all of this? Singing, dancing, etc?

Akeylah: I have been singing since I was five years old. I swear! I used to go outside when I heard cars going by playing loud music that shook the neighborhood in Detroit and just shake my hips and sing along. So yeah...quite a while for singing and dancing.

Big Boy: Shaking your hips...I imagine your parents popped you for that.

Akeylah: Oh no...Yeah. I DEFINITELY got my ass torn up every time. Never failed.

We all laughed

Akeylah: But I still did it though!

Big Boy: Ha! That's not gonna stop me! Fuck you, mom and dad!

Akeylah: But yeah, been doing that since 5 and it's always been my passion. Writing, instruments, and producing came later on like in my teen years. I remember writing stories and songs in middle school, started playing instruments in high school, producing in college.

Big Boy: Now, you said you wrote stories. What type of stories did you write?

Akeylah: Well this is embarrassing. Uh...I wrote fanfiction.
