Continuation...
Tyler's POV
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As we continued to clean up the feathers from our impromptu pillow fight, I couldn't shake off the feeling that had just washed over me. Key looked absolutely stunning in the soft glow of the moonlight coming through the windows, her skin looking like a hershey bar. Her smile was infectious and her laughter was like a sweet melody that I never wanted to end. I tried to ignore the way my heart was racing, but it was becoming increasingly difficult.
The way she talked about being untouchable and the new Key she was becoming only made me want to protect her even more especially after last year. But the way she reacted to our little play fight was something else entirely. I've known Key for a long time, and I've seen her go through a lot. She's grown so much, but this new side of her... it's like she's unlocking a part of herself that she's been hiding away. And fuck, if that doesn't make me want to know her on a deeper level.
As we sat on the floor, surrounded by feathers, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort with her. It's like we've known each other for a lifetime, and yet there's so much more to uncover. I cleared my throat and tried to refocus on the task at hand.
Tyler: So, tell me more about this new aesthetic you're going for.
Akeylah: (looks up at Tyler with a mischievous smile) It's like... I want to be seen as untouchable, but at the same time, irresistible. Like, I'm in control of the narrative now. Plus, I've always had this side of me, I just preferred to be a tomboy.
Tyler: (nods thoughtfully) I get that. It's like you're putting on this armor that says, "I'm in charge here," but also shows off your curves and beauty. It's powerful.
Akeylah: (smirks) That's the plan.
We finished putting all of the feathers in a trash bag and we both sat on the bed with a huff.
Akeylah: Are you still staying?
Tyler: Is that cool with you?
Akeylah: Of course.
Tyler: Cool. I'll go crash on the couch.
Akeylah: (snickers) You don't have to do that. We can sleep head to toe. I'm sure my bed is more comfortable than the couch. You wouldn't even fit on it fully. Feet hanging all off and shit.
Tyler: (smacks his lips) Nigga, shut up. I just don't want to kick you in the middle of the night or some shit. I sleep wild.
Akeylah: (grins) So do I so it's fair game. Now come on. We need to rest. It's been a long day.
She tossed a pillow to me that hadn't been caught up in the pillow fight. I settled with my head aligned with her feet and hers aligned with mine.
Akeylah: Goodnight, Ty.
Tyler: Night, Key.
Within a few minutes she was fast asleep but I was wide awake staring at the ceiling. As I lay there, listening to Key's steady breathing, my mind raced with thoughts. I couldn't deny that the way she had responded to our playful wrestling had stirred something within me. It was like a switch had been flipped, and now all I could think about was the way she felt under me, the smell of her hair, and the way her eyes had darkened when she was trying to hide her arousal. I had to admit, the idea of exploring that side of our relationship was tempting. But I also knew it would be complicated. Key was my mentee, and we had been through a lot together. Plus, there was Wyatt. I didn't want to mess things up with him, especially after we had just started to get back on track.
